I initially installed the custom firmware with only Activate Phone and Custom Images checked, but when I finished installing and iTunes asked me what to use to backup, I asked it to use my actual backup instead of starting a new phone. When everything was done, the iPhone was named "untitled playlist" and i lost all AT&T signal.

I figured I did something wrong, so I restored the iPhone completely and started over. I pwned it again fine. Installed the same firmware with the same boxes checked but this time told it to start as a new phone. Everything worked fine, and now the iPhone has the right name but it still says "No Service".

Have I permanently damaged something in my iPhone or did I do something wrong?

seriously, that thing's legs look like exactly the legs of the metal gears from mgs4. that was the first thing i thought, so it fully creeped me out.
