<![CDATA[sonburn commented on 10 Gadgety Reasons Why I Love America]]> @bbfreak:

No offense taken. The article was just in all light heartedness. Like I said before. I think the US is a great country. Although being the greatest all depends on where your own personal roots are. For me I think thank Canada is the greatest country..... somewhere there are a couple Billion Chinese people who feel their nation is the greatest. It's all about location ;0)

Just few points though... also just light hearted/ semi serious. Like the US there are areas that are more and less diverse in Canada. In my part of bc it feels like our largest population is East Indian and korean. Caucasians are a minority right in my area. There are parts that are very very diverse.

Concerning the article... There is definitely bias there. As an article written by somebody from the USA would be, however I don't believe the size of the population comes into play as it it is all about over-all percentages and statistics. So if the numbers were smaller. Say the USA had 10 people total and canada had 5. Out of the 10 americans 3 had a good standard of living, whereas in Canada 4 people had a good standard of living.... percentage ways Canada would be considered to have a better standard over all... regardless of the number of people in the country.

But... back to my original point. This wasn't meant as a feud starter ;0) I don't want America to do poorly. I want America's economy to turn around and to do well. We're pretty closely tied together and if you do poorly... sooner or later it will have great impact on our economy.

Happy fourth of July you wonderful football playing, burger eating, gadget loving, soaring eagle, flag waving, fireworks lighting people.

Heheheheh ROFL. Fortunately any relatives that I don't like live in South Africa... nothing like an ocean to keep those creeps at bay. Definately don't visit Winnipeg in Manitoba... it has been known on the rare occasion to hit -50c (-59F) and the snow is there allllll winter. That's freeze your face off cold. BC get's to about -11c (12.2 F) but the snow is usually not more than a couple of weeks in a single stretch. You're just starting to have enough of it and it dissapears.

Hehehe.... ok... you got me on the shorts thing;0) ! Although I love snow.... it just doesn't feel like Christmas without snow. I'm a Canadian Citizen now... but was born and grew up in the sweltering heat of South Africa... to me the whole sun thing all the time isn't a draw card... been there done that. I like having actual seasons. The heat of summer, The Autumn changing of leaves and turning into winter... the awesome white stuff to shred on and the spring rains.... I LOVE IT! To each their own.

WOW... just that... wow. That kinda goes beyond friendly banter. I mean I don't really like some of the politics that the US has been caught up in... that doesn't mean that there aren't millions of US citizens who don't also have the same hate for the current administration. They still however have a right to be proud of their country! No country is perfect.

It's 72f now and the last few days have been in the 90 range. Don't believe everything you see on TV about how cold it is here ;0) ... that's only during winter... and then not everywhere. Vancouver is beautiful this time of year, with perfect weather.

Don't forget to put some of that income aside for when mother nature flattens all that hard earned gadgetry.
Happy 4th!

Yeah... only read one of the bond books like a millennium ago. Got me there. Just from a personal preference I never liked Dalton's acting... it always felt like he was trying too hard... not only in bond, but in other things I've seen him in.... For my taste he's always come across as a made for TV movie kind of guy.

<![CDATA[sonburn commented on Nintendo's Working on Improved Wii Storage? Maybe?]]> @praevalesco:
It's not about the saved games. it's about all the other cool stuff you could do with your wii if they added the extra space. Extra space could mean a video service... or just frankly more space for the new downloadable wii games that are now being distributed. Maybe I don't understand Nintendo's reasoning for not adding the extra storage, but to me it would make good business sense. They could sell a wii branded hard drive = $ If people had the storage they would buy more games = $ if they had the available storage new services could be created that people would pay for and that = more $.

You're right... saved games don't need that much space.... think outside the box.... it could be used for far more than saves.

I agree.. to an extent. Truly what is natural. Other than living naked in the wilderness? Everything we do all day pushes the limits of the natural. Even changes in available medication and changes in lifestyle over the centuries has swung the pendulum two and fro of our mortality rate. I don't know if this would be something I would take personally as I'm not even a fan of popping aspirin, however if it's at a reasonable expense and you would like to see what it's like to outlive your retirement savings then knock yourself out ;0)

<![CDATA[sonburn commented on All Things D: World Debut of Guitar Hero 4]]> @Rabid Penguin:
Oh Touché. Hehehe.... Give credit where credit is due. True, more instruments would make it more expensive. Maybe it would be neat though (cost aside) to have a game where you decide through which instruments you invest in, what the sound of your "band" will be. I'm sure it would be insanely expensive to develope... but I'm holding out for a Cow Bell hero.... " I have a fever... and the only cure is MORE COWBELL!"

]]>
<![CDATA[sonburn commented on All Things D: World Debut of Guitar Hero 4]]> @Rabid Penguin:
I've actually got nothing against there being two games so similar... it's going to be a thing of personal preference to do with equipment, song/ genre preference.. etc. I was just hoping that the hero team were going to aim a little higher instead of dead on with their competitors... maybe take a chance on some crazy instruments.... I'd totally buy violinhero ;0)

]]>
<![CDATA[sonburn commented on All Things D: World Debut of Guitar Hero 4]]> @Rabid Penguin:
Sorry to break it to you man... the original team that designed Guitar Hero are the guys who have designed Rock Band... here's a little wikipedia schooling: Development history

Harmonix Music Systems was previously responsible for developing the Guitar Hero series, while RedOctane manufactured the peripherals and owned the rights to the series. However, in June 2006, RedOctane was bought by Activision, while in September 2006, Harmonix was purchased by MTV Networks. As a result of the two purchases, Harmonix would no longer be able to develop future Guitar Hero games. Instead, Neversoft, a subsidiary of Activision, would take over development; the company released Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on October 28, 2007.[12][13]
Rock Band was first announced on April 1, 2007.[14] Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos said in the announcement that Rock Band "takes the core premise of Guitar Hero and expands it tenfold.

Harmonix... the creators of both rock band and the original guitar hero or the ones who are... how do did you put it, "trying to compete in a genre that it existed in first."

<![CDATA[sonburn commented on GPS-Tracked Biggest Drawing in the World is Complete Fake]]> @Fierock: The minimalist movement did a very similar thing claiming art in the most simplistic of ideas. Marcel Duchamp's "Fountain" was merely a urinal in a new location (an art exibition) and the only change he made to it was to sign it! I love art... but I have to admit the minimalist movement has always irked me just a bit . Actually make something that is art worthy! Pick up a brush... actually send a gps tracked package all over the world and see what you come up with! but at least take it beyond the idea.

]]>
<![CDATA[sonburn commented on Hands-On with the Indoor-Approved Super Smoker]]> @carmen89:

WOW... Even if I am a dick.... which... being human I sure I am on a continuous basis... but you just showed us all what a classy lady you are suggesting that you would go into a defenseless infants room and smoke in her face....gosh... the lucky guy that bags you.

All the intense talk of freedom and your rights... but as soon as somebody expresses there right to express their extreme disgust for a filthy habit you're up in arms. What about the right to not be around smokers... and I don't mean having to pick certain restaurants so I don't have to be around the cancer fumes... I mean the right to drive in traffic and not have it coming into my car... sitting in my own condo and not having it waft up to my floor... See... your freedoms are encroaching on my freedoms.

That concept of freedom can become an absurdity very quickly. What about a sex fiend... it's his freedom and right to experience the giggles he gets from any sex he wishes surely.... even if that means entering a home at gunpoint and having his way with each member of the family... over the top.... The truth is in such an extreme situation his freedom encroaches on the freedom and rights of that family to have a safe home.... When smoke enters my home from my neighbors it may not be on the same scale... but it's the same

Look I apologize for my rudeness and harshness yesterday.... should never post when you're already pissed off about a bunch of other things going on... not that you care about my apologies I'm sure... but just something to think about freedom is a much broader concept than just doing what ever I want whenever I want to... we live as part of a community whether we feel part of that community or not your freedoms and choices affect you... as yours do me. I drive a car use cellphones whatever... The difference these are tools that I need to survive... to earn a wage.

Look it's clear we'll never agree... "you win"... The sun's out... I can't sit in front of this screen anymore... there's an entire real world out there.... have a good one
