"Many games today are online and once online, the threat of getting your game cut off from online play seems like it would really slow down piracy. Most online games I've played check certain things with the master servers before you can even connect. Sure that can be hacked as well, but is it really worth it? OTOH, game makers need to wake up to the fact that $50+ for a game is a bit high for mom and dad to buy more than one or three a year."
