<![CDATA[ttrimble commented on New AT&T BlackBerry Bold Release Date: Oct. 2]]> Well, with 1 Gig of internal RAM, ability to capture full motion video, play back video, support for html formatted email, ability to edit/create Word/Excel docs on the device, hi resolution screen, 3G support, and faster performance - If the kinks are worked out then it's going to be well worth waiting for. A ton of people have been asking for this device (I work for a major carrier.) If it doesn't come out broken, then it's going to be a huge hit!

<![CDATA[ttrimble commented on Pandora Internet Radio Can't Take Royalty Rates, Will Likely Close the Box]]> I've discovered many new artists and have purchased music because of Pandora. Shutting it down is going to eliminate a method for artists to gain exposure, and thus reduce their fan base, which reduces attendance at shows, and purchase of music.

I'm still amazed at the amount of power that has been granted to the RIAA. Is this justice for the artists? I think not.

<![CDATA[ttrimble commented on Ex-Googlers Build Cuil Search Engine, Say it's Bigger Than Google]]> Humm, $33 Mil in VC, and the site is currently down? (as of 11:50 am PST) Sounds like a bit of premature marketing.

<![CDATA[ttrimble commented on Philippe Kahn Sailing Across the Great Blue Pacific Again]]> Go, Philippe, Go!

BTW: I still miss my days writing code at Ashton-Tate with Turbo Pascal & Turbo C.

<![CDATA[ttrimble commented on BlackBerry Pearl Gets Google Maps with Voice Search]]> Actually, you'd be amazed at how many folks make the move from iPhone to BB. Once the glitz wears off, and realization that serious work needs to be done, then they switch back to the BB platform. I know this since I work for AT&T.

<![CDATA[ttrimble commented on Amazon Kindle vs. Sony Reader: Sizemodo and Interface Comparison (Gallery)]]> I'm still very happy to do my reading with my Treo 650. It has back lighting, it's small enough to hold in one hand, I can clip it to my belt and read while standing in line at the bank, and I can do a whole lot more with it than just read. When they finally get around to adding backlighting to these devices and get the price down to around $100, then I'll be interested.

<![CDATA[ttrimble commented on Palm Centro Unboxed and Reviewed (Verdict: Yep, Definitely Gonna Sell Loads of 'Em)]]> I've been carrying a Palm Treo 650 for ages and I think I've only had it hang a couple times. And that mostly been due to me using an unlocked phone on a network that doesn't support the 650. (T-Mobile) I think Palm has got a winner here with the Centro. You can't beat the amount of software available for PalmOS. I carry my MS Word & Excel documents, my chess games, Sudoku, all my login id's for web sites (SplashID), FileMaker databases, tons of pictures, and ebooks. And if I wanted, I could actually write C, Java, and/or BASIC programs on the device itself. (Yea, over the top geeky.)

<![CDATA[ttrimble commented on Emailing the Father of the Camera Phone as He Sails Across the Great Blue Pacific]]> Camera Phone! That's what people remember Philippe for? What about Borland? Turbo Pascal? Okay, yea, I'm dating myself. I was a Turbo Pascal fanatic. And I used it to write tons of software while at Ashton-Tate - the company that Borland eventually bought.

So glad to see that the legacy of Philippe is continuing. Philippe, if you're reading this - I enjoyed our C compiler conversation at one of the Programming Conventions. It was you, the project manager for the Microsoft C product, and myself. The media got wind of Ashton-Tate, Microsoft, and Borland all discussing the attributes of good C compilers. When they showed up, we all split.

Long live Turbo Pascal!
