I like windows mobile just fine. It's nice that HTC is modding it with its TouchFLO layer, it just adds to WinMo's adaptability.

The sound is fake. I assume it's supposed to be a CRT because of the 'glass' sound. Most your new display types are plastic.

Glass CRT doesn't just shatter. It implodes.

The sound ranges from serious explosion "boom!" that could have showered that kid in glass shards or the more likely sucking sound as the vaccume is let out of the CRT.

I don't think you could throw a flimsy piece of plastic into a TV picture tube hard enough to break it.

CES used to be about the technology. It used to be about breakthroughs and new and interesting ideas in tech.

Now it's commercialism and sales.

Some of the younger crowd may think that's all it ever was or what it should be.

Once CES turned into an over commercial event it begins to drive the industry rather than the other way around.

More splashy booths, higher 'numbers' - useless specs, garbage peddlers.

Presentations for technology that isn't even coming out this year - or may never. How many release dates weren't even met from CES 2007 ?

It's because the pressure is on having something cool to show off at the 'event'.

The 720P got recently is a bargain right now. The 120Hz 1080P big flatties are as pricey as they're ever going to be right now.

Someday you'll seek to replace your 720P and you now have something to look forward to ... some day. It's not about having the latest, greatest thing all the time. It 'should' be about having that next horizon in your future to look forward to.

Although it'd be nice to see all those extra features - HDMI 1.3, Ethernet, Blu-ray Profile 2.0, video gaming etc.

The steep price is mostly because of

1/ Denon engineering of every circuit in this unit.

2/ Realta HQV video processors. This is not the knock off HQV that Samsung is using, it's the professional grade processors. $2K is actually cheap when compare the price to other consumer electronics with the same processors.

HDMI 1.3 would only be necessary if you wanted to bitstream the lossless codecs to your receiver. If you spent this kind of money on a BD player you shouldn't do that.

You should use this unit to decode your audio and send it uncompressed to your receiver. HDMI 1.1 is perfectly capable of this feat.

I had a chance to audition one of the older versions of this. It sounds like silly sci-fi stuff - bouncing sound and all. But I can say first hand the results are impressive.

Not as good as a real 5.1 surround system but perfect for certain situations.

One of the conditions for using this is that your environment has to provide surfaces to "bounce" the sound from. So, an enclosed room or a room with furniture strategically placed from which to reflect sound will be required for the effect.

It's not exactly a revelation that 360 fails more. But I question the source for percentages. The conclusion is ... argh!! Frustrating - yeah go buy a PS3 cause that Xbox 360 you're thinking about is 33% likely to fail.

A summary of game console failure rates from an unbaised source would be nice.
