It didn't work at first, telling me there were no cell towers in range, but then I noticed am "Invisible" toggle that was set to "On"."

after it restarted, my EDGE APN was "settable".
Haven't been able to get the Maps "locate me" thing to work yet, but other than that, it's smooth sailing at this point."
