Daddy why do I hear mommy downloading with the mailman while you are away at work?
-
Holy Crap - I am officially disturbed. And laughing so hard im crying too....
-
"Mommy" is his eighty-seventh book? Is it jus me or does this sound a little bit wrong?
-
Oh god, excellent.
-
@simpsons-movie-ruled: Maybe that's because it's a joke.
-
This is the crap that Balmer reads to his deprived kids. This is really sick. If I gave my wife a home server she would divorce me. If this really came from Microsoft, I lost all respect for them. I would say the same thing if it came from Apple or Linux.
But it is kinda funny in a Britney Spears train wreck sort of way. -
holy crap that was ridiculously funny. props to microsoft for having a hilariously creative marketing team
-
I'd buy one, you know, if I loved kids. But I don't. Oh well.
-
please... tell me this is a joke... this was the funniest thing I've read in ages!!
-
Man, I'd buy a Windows server license just for that, almost.
-
This is the best sign in years that Microsoft has a sense of humor. This, and Bill's "last day in the office" video. Three cheers for that!
Now if only Vista were a decent product...
-
I'd have to say this is the most creative and clever thing to ever come out of Microsoft. Ever.
The dog pee'd on the notebook!
-
I rarely say this, but... serious kudos to Microsoft. That was extremely funny and clever - wish I could order the book on Amazon to surreptitiously slip into my kids' bookcase during Mommy bedtime. I can see it now.
"Okay, kids, let's read a book. This one is called 'Mommy, Why is there a Server in the House?'.... Wait.... WTF??"
"Mommy, you said a bad word! You get a time out!"
"@##&*%#@&%!"
"*gasp* Mommy, you did it again!"
(etc., etc.)
-
I was so waiting to read "And the Windows Home Server loves you, too!"
Still, absolutely hilarious. Good job, Microsoft.
-
Fabulous!
-
Did anyone notice that the big rack of servers were Apple XServes and XRaids? LOL! That artists strike back!
This book is so lame. Put it right up there with Bob and Clippy and dancing Monkeyboy.

In the last few days, between the Bill Gates video, and this, Microsoft has changed their image more than Hillary.
Great stuff. -
those big rack apple servers make mommy and daddy grumpy at work
-
@Roflcopter_Down: My sentiments exactly, although I wish it had been out for a few years and I could get a used one for $25 from the classifieds.
-
Having a 1.5 year old at home, I'm actually tempted to find this and read it to him...
It's better than half his other books, although the tone is a bit demanding... "They make fun of you, but that's ok!" Like hell it is, I want my son to whoop some ass.
Not really, I expect him to start extolling the virtues of an open source based home server. I think they missed a few pages on the book, though. After the sharing with people outside the house, it should have had a page:
"But pick your friends carefully, because your stay-at-home-server will only talk to a few of them at a time!" -
@J. Shirley: Aye, and only if they have their DRM licenses recently updated.
-
disturbing to say tha least
-
If you think this is hilarous, you ain't seen nothing yet.
-
Absolutely brilliant. Tom O'Connor is my new favorite Children's Book Author!
-
This is why I love Gizmodo
-
I only wish Microsoft approached all of their projects with such a sense of humor and creative streak as they have with this book and the video of Gates' last day. :( Also, this creeps me out.
-
Wow, you guys are easily amused. This was cute at best.
-
I found the book easier to read when I replaced server with aids.
-
meh... marginally interesting at best. Better title: Mommy, WTF is a blue-screen-of-death?
-
Wow, and it will connect to the new Microsoft Surface for Home - "The Big Ass Coffee Table" ...
-
I just love what the dog did to that one computer. And the 'uncle that smells like bark?' For a long time that was me.
