Set up this thingamajig made of squiggly pieces of wood, and suddenly everything sounds different. Do not be afraid of the squiggly wood. It will help you hear things you never knew existed. That and a tab or two of acid. Shakti Hallograph is a true bargain at $999. Let's hear from one of the Moonies at 6moons.com on this one: "They delivered what they promised. I really like the flexibility of tuning you can get by moving them around the room. Most importantly, they made the sound more natural - smoother, with more harmonic decay. Everything was less etched, less hifi. It's one of the few tweaks I'd be willing to pay money for myself."

"Everything was less etched, less hifi"
Finally! A magic device that lowers fidelity!
Er, but I'm thinking that I could lower fidelity for a lot less than $999 :)

Devices to tune the acoustics of your room make a hell of a lot of sense, especially something that diffracts or diffuses the rear wave from speakers. Shakti just slathers on the mystical BS. Argent Room Lenses are similar to these, three vertical pipes, but without the wiggles. Several people on the Planar Speaker Asylum forum like the change in the sound. The good news is you can build your own from foam "water noodle" pool toys or PVC pipes. DIY!
