It looks like it's running the Blur interface. The icons don't exactly match. Like, the Camera app doesn't have that black bar, I think, but the position is otherwise the same. And the camcorder and alarm clock icons are almost identical. The drawer looks like the smoother Blur drawer, as well.
@dragon:ONE: I can see this being HUGE on the Boost service, they have fairly good plans for those who don't want contracts, and I'm not sure if they have any smartphones yet (couple of Motorola QWERTYs I think, but nothing impressive). Hell, at $50/month unlimited, I might join you.
Heh, funny. Moto's naming their low-end device after my high-end town ... and they misspell the name just like we do. It's supposed to be "La Joya," stupid gringos!
@tande04: Is that really a deal-breaker though? I understand that its not really aesthetically pleasing, but part of me accepts it for who it is. I kinda like the look, whether that love-handle serves a purpose or not.
@tande04: As I always say, I choose my phone for what it can do, not as a fashion accessory. People see my matte-black G1 and most make the comment that it looks like military hardware. Of course, after they see the Google maps GPS nav, and compass-based street view they start drooling... it's amazing how much some actual practical functionality can make a device start looking very appealing.
Still bugs me that the late comer to the magnometer game (3GS) has what I think is a more basic and useful feature than any implementation on the G1. Self orienting maps.
On subject though I agree with you. I'm much happier with something a bit rougher around the edges.
@Nathan Obbards: As great as the Droid is. Something even better will come up on Sprint. Once it does, I will be waiting to sign my life away to google. Sad, but the truth.
What could be more twee French than a company called Sensitive Object that works on "acoustic touch"? Is it run by Nicolas Godin and Jean-BenoƮt Dunckel?
Sound waves? I'd be interested in hearing how one deals with white noise. And what sort of sounds a finger touching a screen makes, or how you pinpoint it.

If this does indeed hit Sextel/Sprint/NEXTEL, sign me up... to bring it over to Boost.

Its called "Sholes tablet" because that was the code name of the device. The guy that thought up clever names was sick that day I guess.
Major bummer about the bump though. Probably just went off my wish list for that.

I've got a G1 now so I can learn to love the ugly I guess.
