One time I replaced this guy's cassette program with a recording of a bunch of us laughing and calling him a loser.
When his program didn't load, he of course unplugged the speaker jack to release peals of laughter and disparaging remarks at nearly full volume in the middle of the computer lab!
He was really pissed until I gave him his program back. Then he relaxed.
Geesh, as if I'd trash the guy's work.
That's just f'ed up, man.
@Manuel Pfennig: With the advent of 64 bit, it's likely we'll be seeing machines running on 32GB or even 64GB of RAM. I think Snow Leopard is supposed to support a theoretical 16,000GB of RAM or something silly like that.
The iMac G3 is this schoolboy's generational equiv to the last gen Apple ][.
You can practically find iMac G3s everywhere at public schools, due to Apple's successful educational program for those machines. Hell, you can find most of them actually running Mac OS X Tiger in many cases!
@AnalysisDialysis (and a MudkipNDS): I remember being in second grade and always wanting to go play on the Macintosh LCs in the corner. Good times, good times. (I didn't encounter this "iMac" thing you speak of until high school.)
In 30 years I've never really seen the point of upgrading from my Apple II. It has all the RAM and Memory I need. Plus, the operating system is soooo stable.
@Nick: My island name is Nicko: really?? clocks everywhere drive me nuts (especially in a dark room when they are giving off lots of glare), that is what my cell phone is for.
@thePrototype: thank you maam. i don't think it was gone for any particular reason. it was just gone. well, we switched from vcr to dvd before cell phones began replacing watches. but yeah, i hate bright lights on electronics.
@Nick: My island name is Nicko: tell me about it, the bright green and blue lights on the ps3 piss me off, i prefer the soft pulsating light on the front of MBP.
Why the 43C? The 41C was born in '79 and was probably the most influential model in HP's line for the 25 years that followed. They weren't just calculators but full-fledged computers with pluggable ROM, RAM, and I/O modules. You could get an HP-IL module to hook up a printer, tape drive, lab instrumentation via an HPIB bridge.
The CV version was onboard most '80s shuttle flights as a backup in case the main computers failed.
Seriously, if you're ever doing anything more than the basic 4 functions, give an HP a try. RPN is so much more intuitive than infix once you wrap your brain around it.
