Dell 3008WFP-HC, 30 Inches of Widescreen Swank

Dell has gone monitor-crazy lately, and adding to yesterday's rollout of its gorgeous Dell Crystal monitor, now the company's updated its 30-inch display line, and this one's called the Dell UltraSharp 3008WFP-HC. We've had one in-house here for the past month, beholding its huge expanse and basking in its 2560x1600 resolution. The main events with this display are its clean new design that looks rather plain from the front but shiny and especially luxurious from the back, and its ability to connect up to DisplayPort, the new standard for computer monitors that will make things a lot easier for such high-resolution displays.

Futuremark/Dell Giving Away 30-inch LCD

Wanna win a 30-inch LCD? Futuremark and Dell are sponsoring a Performance Shootout contest where the highest-ranking 3DMark scorer gets to take home Dell's 3007WFP-HC LCD. Second and third place get 27- and 24-inch screens and 5 random participants will get a GeForce 7900 GT video card (though chances are if you participate you're already using something faster). The contest ends February 10th and the current score to beat is 18,842 so if your PC has what it takes, give it a try. More »

Dell Adds 27-inch LCD to Their Line Up

If BenQ's FP93G X+ proved to small for your tastes, you'll be glad to know that Dell and Samsung are working in cahoots to bring you a 27-inch LCD for the upcoming year. Samsung will be providing the monitor, which will have a 1,920x1,200 resolution along with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Dell just upgraded their 30-inch monitor not too long ago, so this 27-inch display will sit comfortably in between the 2407WFP and the 3007WFP-HC, though naturally we'd take the full 30 over 27 any day. Dell 3007WFP-HC LCD Gets Pumped For HP Showdown

Dell's XPS wasn't the only thing that got an update this morning. Their highly-coveted 30-inch monitor also got some modest, yet very welcome upgrades. The UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC now has a 92 percent color gamut, which Dell claims will deliver brighter, crisper colors. It also has a faster 8ms grey-to-grey response time (vs 11ms on the old panel), in addition to all the features found on the original panel (like a 9-in-2 card reader and 4 USB ports). The monitor goes on sale on the 21st and will set you back $1,699, putting it right up there with HP's equally-priced LP3065. The holidays are just around the corner, so I'm hoping for some nice price wars between HP and Dell before snagging one for myself. More »
