The iNAVI K2's amazingly detailed 3D maps are rendered on its 4.8-inch 800 x 480 pixel screen in a photo-realistic way, and it even uses a three-axis sensor to detect the absolute direction changes of your car. This speeds up its positioning system, and makes it sound even more like a games console. It uses an 8GB SDHC memory, with 256MB of its own RAM, has multimedia functions, photo viewing and, yes, plays games. Out in Korea (where else?) for $556. [Aving]

<![CDATA[3DLabs Bringing Real-life Maps to Your GPS]]> The thing about most GPS systems is that rather than see real-life renderings of where you're driving/navigating, you're instead stuck with 2D maps that try to pass off as 3D. To address that issue 3DLabs is working on an interface that would use skinned textures of real-life buildings and landmarks to help you navigate in full 3D. Sounds cool to me, though I'd be afraid of people relying on their "3D map" instead of looking at the road in front of them.
