Pretty cool but I think Apple's iPhone interface of quick taps and sweeps is just as good and already here. All it needs is reduced loading times to make me happy.
Personally, this looks like a waste of time. I like 3D stuff like the next guy, but it comes to a point where it can seem a bit obtrusive. I hope this doesn't see the light of day, because it just seems like a lot of visual overload for something that should generally be a very clean workspace.
The issue I've always had with Apple vs. PC is that the PC doesn't take up so much real estate for the OS. Like on a small monitor I have alot more room for my applications to work in then on the Apple. The Apple takes away a good 2 inces from the bottom of my screen that I can't use.
@Lupison: If you turn hiding on/resize the dock, it'll pretty much be out of your hair. I only have a 13" Macbook, so for home use I bought a larger 20" HP monitor for it and that solved the problem.
@OMG! Ponies!: As of 10.5, I like the dock even more because of the Stacks function, which allows some quasi Star Menu list views. Shoving the Applications and Documents folder into the stack bar makes it a lot more useful.
@Kaiser-Machead: Thank you for proving his point...in your rebuttal, you changed a default setting and bought additional hardware to solve a problem that he doesn't have.
@Ginsu: Firstly, my particular example problem was not simply the dock, but the dimensions of the display itself to do any kind of imaging work. If I'm going to do Photoshop or anything else that needs a great deal of room, a 13" display is inadequate, however I didn't feel like spending the money on a $2k laptop when I can just get a larger external display and save a few hundred dollars. There are some advantages to the Dock, at least for me, as well as its caveats (in hide mode on, there's no way to tell what app is running unless you keep popping the dock out, which I find to be a clear design oversight, though there are other ways to check, but are still not apparent ).
Secondly, this is just a helpful tip to those who have issue with the default setting. Does everyone keep the default settings of Windows? Is Quicklaunch on by default? Of all the systems I've used, that was usually not the case, though is helpful to keep my desktop clear and not have to launch the Star menu. I change settings on all of my systems to suit me individually. I'm sure most people who do more extensive work/play on their computers do likewise. My example, in which I purchased extra hardware, was to solve more than one problem. if I didn't need more than 13", simply hiding the dock would've let me use almost all of that space.
Your pretty pony is in the quonset hut on the other side of the island. The power's out so the cars won't work but if you take this annoying Australian with you, you should be able to make it before the velociraptors get you.
Just look out because the alpha female is a clever girl.

They show extraordinary intelligence, even problem-solving. Especially the big one. We bred eight commenters originally, but when she came in she took over the pride and killed all but two of the other commenters. That one... when she looks at you, you can tell she's working things out.
God help us; we're in the hands of commenters.
You'll have to get used to Git Em SteveDave; he suffers from a deplorable excess of personality.
@OMG! Ponies!: Well, maybe commenters have more in common with present-day birds than they do with reptiles. Look at the pubic bone: turned backward, just like a bird. Look at their brains: full of airsacs and hollows, just like a bird.
The commenters, they're moving in herds! They do move in herds!
The web has just changed so radically, and we're all running to catch up. I don't want to jump to any conclusions, but look: commenters and man, two species separated by 65 million years of evolution, have just been suddenly thrown back into the mix together at Gizmodo. How can we possibly have the slightest idea what to expect?
Mr. Lam, after careful consideration, I've decided not to endorse your site.
SteveDave, SteveDave, we have SteveDave here! See? Nobody cares. Nice hat! What are ya tryin' to look like - a secret agent?
I think I'd prefer some time of newfangled desktop environment where an icon stays where I put it, regardless of where that might be on said desktop. Instead of having to move it to another spot to get more information about it, I could simply call up some universal keystroke or other mechanism.
New, yes. I have a hard time seeing even the potential use for this, though, at least in the current incarnation. Maybe this'll prove to be more than eye-candy/bragging rights if used with an accelerometer...
@USB_Humping_Dog: Given the prior implementations of uses for the accelerometer (other than for Apple to deny warranty coverage for accidental damage), I doubt it would be more than eye candy.

To be honest, I prefer the Dock for some things to the Start Menu and run RocketDock on my PC.

*sigh*
With Mac supporters like this, who needs PC ads?

Bumptop was terrible. It was a resource hog, was a pain in the ass to configure, and offered very little. Even as eye candy, it was fairly lame.
I uninstalled it within a week.
