This kid is twisted, he broke into a safe to get the game and the gun, let's not blame the particular tool he used to commit his crime. When you blame a crime on the implement with which it was committed you partially excuse the perpetrator of said crime. A lifeless object cannot be evil, obviously excluding killer robots.

Of course, people should not want to kill other people in the first place. Unfortunately, that's not the case. Guns just make it easier for murderers.

A tragedy regardless of where it happens, and it seems to be happening more and more. I dont think people understand its an addiction, the same as any other addiction, and needs to be treated. Cold turkey is not something that can be forced on anyone trying to kick an addiction or this is the result.

and really, Halo 3? I wouldn't go ballistic over anything less than CoD4, or Gears....

"your gonna end up like that kid and go crazy" (mom)

The whole Gaming Addiction thing is bullshit.
I'm addicted to cigarettes but i wouldn't actually murder people if they took em away from me - and that's a tangible, chemical, measurable addiction.
Video Game Addiction is like any other psychological dependence - it's self-perpetuated whiny bullshit.
There is no such thing as porn addiction or gaming addiction - those are just extreme examples of people who
A) have something they really like
and
B) are completely irresponsible when it comes to managing their lives
And even if there WAS legitimate 'gaming addiction', that doesn't excuse a persons actions - if a crack head kills your mother, do you really give him some sympathy because he was an addict, or do you want him simply held responsible for his actions? because its peoples actions that matter, not their 'problems' or their 'issues'.
Daddy beat you and so now you beat other people? I could not care less that your daddy beat you.

We almost felt like crack dealers sellings all those WoW time cards.

Playing too much WoW, or Second Life, or whatever is a symptom of a psychological problem. WoW et all aren't the cause of the problem, but they obsessive playing of them is a good indicator that something isn't right in the person's head. That isn't a disease, it's a side effect of the disease.
Where as say, people using alcohol or other susbstances who have developed a chemical addiction.
