Google Chrome Short Films for the Browser That's Warm and Fuzzy

Unofficial Preview of Google Chrome for OS X Available For Download
Without plugin support (read: Flash), a preference screen, or any semblance of stability, this super-early, unsanctioned build of Chrome for OS X is by no means ready for daily use. It's good to see that it works, though—and now we know that the planned fall beta is at least plausible. [Manu-J via TUAW] -

Chrome Is Polished, Officially Beta Free
TechCrunch is confirming what I relayed to you last night, that Chrome is officially no longer a Google beta product. Its 15th release is free of that familiar Google "beta" badge, and though the install base isn't what some had hoped for, Google itself is bragging that the app has accrued 10 million active users in 100 days. So, like I was saying, here comes the mother of all browser wars. Oh, and yes, we would like a Mac version sometime in the next two months. [Google Blog via TechCrunch] -

Now Even the PS3 Surfs Faster than Explorer
It's a sad day, Microsoft, when Sony goes on record that their PS3 browser is faster than IE7. Firmware 2.5 is not only bringing the PlayStation 3 internet browser Flash 9, but its Javascript update promises to speed up the browser by an impressive 2.8X. Sony admits that they're still slower than Google Chrome, but as for IE7, it's eating their dust. If Sony's claims are true, it's straight up sad that the PS3's browser UI is worse than almost any browser on the market...including some on mobile devices. [IGN via Kotaku] -

Google Chrome: Anatomy Of A Logo
Though it's in no way official, I happen to enjoy Google Blogoscoped's analysis of the Google Chrome logo and agree with the influences listed. In addition to the hodge podge of handheld Simons, Pokeballs, Firefox, webcams and Google logos, Neatorama also throws in the Sal-9000 eye from 2010 for good measure. It also kinda looks like that robot lamp from yesterday (obviously, they're not remotely related). Anything else this reminds you of? [Google Blogoscoped via Neatorama] -

Question of the Day: Have You Made Google Chrome Your Default Browser?
It's been a few days since Google Chrome was released, so you should have a fairly decent idea of what the deal is by now. Obviously, it is still in beta, so there are bugs to work out and scary EULAs to be freaked out by—which is why I'm curious to know how many of you have taken the bold step of running it as your default browser. I'm also interested in knowing whether or not you plan on keeping it that way. More » -

Google Updating Chrome EULA to Be Less Creepy
Google has responded with haste to the huge outcry about a section in Chrome's EULA that gives Google "a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license" to do all kinds of dirty stuff—in public no less—to content you post through Chrome. Rebecca Ward, Senior Product Counsel for Google Chrome, told Ars that it's actually an oopsie from basically copying and pasting the same EULA it uses in other products, and that they're updating it as fast as they can to remove the ridiculous terms.
