3GB/s??? Is that real world speeds? And is that even possible on a SATA connection? I thought the hotness was for the uber pci-express based solid state drives? And the top speeds I've seen for those, the supertalent raiddrive in fact, is supposed to have a top read speed of 1.4 GB/s.
So.......someone please explain how is 3GB/s possible on a SATA connection and should I forget about wanting a supertalent raiddrive?
Don't SSD wear out after so many read write? Will this have the same durability as the current hard drives? I don't know about you all but I download and delete and such on my desktop a LOT more than on a netbook or even an mp3 player.
@Ajh: Ignore the other reply... anecdote.Yes, Flash drives have a finite read/write life, it's about 10,000 writes for the lowest end, or 100,000 writes for the top end Intel brands - lots of clever software spreads out the read-write amongst memory pages (called wear levelling).
Even if you write up to 200GBs per month (that's a lot), with level wearing, it would take 900 years to use up all 10,000 page writes (the theoretical maximum life of a low end drive).
More realistically, you're looking at a lifespan well in excess of 10 years (i.e. longer than a mechanical drive).More here: [www.anandtech.com]
While I submitted this tip sometime ago, I realized that for that money you could saturate SATAII's bandwidth with a bunch of regular drives in raid at a fraction of that ridiculous price
@chauncy that billups: Not to rain on your parade, but I don't think these drives will drop in price ten fold every year. In fact, does anything new drop in price that quickly?
Can you imagine the day these cost the same as magnetic drives? Laptops and PCs will finally rid themselves of one of the largest bottlenecks in systems today.
What I need is a keyboard that can change the keyboard layout, for different scripts, so changing the keys A-Z, 0.9 and some special char keys. The other keys don't interest me.
So for me, this keyboard is actually 0.0% the keyboard the Optimus is!
I'm dissapointed after reading OLED and seeing this, I normally love OCZ and think this is alright but for $135 I'd expect a few more Display keys. It really does plae in comparison to the Optimus Maximus though, that thing costs more than my estimated computer costs.
Didn't know it had 9 screens, that's pretty damn good for the price. I love this edit button!
@VenomIreland: Ok I've encountered a bug in the comments, in my comment above the paragraph seperaters have vanished and in this comment the image has vanished.
@SirDrinksalot: Yeah, but the larger delete button is necesary for when you make big mistakes. Smaller delete buttons can only delete smaller mistakes and errors.
@SirDrinksalot: That's actually a more efficient layout. I was upset when I noticed the Logitech wave had that layout, but I picked it up anyway and find it to be superior (after some getting used to). Mostly, it's the home and end keys that are much easier to work with. It makes sense. Home on the left, End on the right because that's what they do. Home and End on top of eachother is kind of stupid when you think about it.
Plus, a large delete key makes sense because it's an oft-used key.
I also bought one of those "super small" USB sticks from Sony, the one that is about the size of a dime? The security guard where I work made a stink over me bring my Cruzer in so I bought a sony one. It is so small it fits inside of my badge holder. I showed him!

I've never used the delete button on a PC keyboard. I doubt it as often used as the space bar, entre, delete, number pad, etc.
