As someone who graduated with a degree in psychology its very apparent to me that the correct form of punishment would be to bitchslap the entire family. Who lets kids play on the roof unnattended?
I mean from watching the news the dad is not all there. Driving your kids towards a tornado? Trying to prove pyramids on mars? #heliumballoon
@ripfire: Yeah someone posted it when i was watching live. Theyre pretty brilliant, apparently they were ridiculous enough to be on the show twice. #heliumballoon
Did anyone really believe that a kid could float away in a helium balloon? Really?!?!?! It would take a shit ton of Helium to lift a 6 year-old only a foot off the ground. Bottom line is that he did what any little boy would do who had just sent his dad's plane flying away.... he hid. He's a child who knows he has a bare bottom swat coming to him. #heliumballoon
I have to say, I honestly expected to hear in a few hours that he wasn't actually in the balloon, and was instead camped out in the attic hiding or something.
@Lite hates Illinois Nazis: No kidding. Whether people were filming it or not, I'm sure a kid falling out of the damn thing would've been noticed by someone, somewhere. Even in the sticks. #heliumballoon
OK. Unrelated by why the f*ck do I have to click show hidden comments everytime now? I'm interested in far more than the stars damnit. And I could click Share over and over.
@Denver_80203: In your profile page, go to settings. It let's you choose the option to see all threads by default. Takes effect fastest when you make a change to the settings, and then put them the way you prefer. You can also choose how to see comments, oldest/newest first.
@Denver_80203: No, you have the right to vent. It's a bug. Even if you have the settings set to show comments, it's still hiding comments. But if you refresh, it will show comments... then hide... then show...
@Denver_80203: I’m having a few anger management issues as well over the new changes.
Hang in there.
One can only hope things will get better; they can’t get worse; can they? #heliumballoon
@Fractal the Meek: Nah. I'm using Firefox (3.5.3) and tried IE. Same results. My guess is that it's using the setting of the last person who posted. (maaaybee) #heliumballoon
Well, let's go easy on him. He had no way of knowing his brother told everyone he was in the balloon. He's just a kid and he was scared. #heliumballoon
@lostarchitect: I agree. A 6 year old kid has no sense of consequences. And I think suggesting to "bitchslap" a kid is pretty offensive. #heliumballoon
@jkrell: Well, because he destroyed his dad's science project, for one. Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't sound like an intentional hoax to me. In any case, I'm just glad he's OK. #heliumballoon
@lostarchitect: Have you seen the way these kids are allowed to behave? The dad is a crackpot and they're allowed to do whatever they want. DCFS needs to gets involved in this ASAP. #heliumballoon
@boo_radley32: I dunno, I think having a storm-chasing dad who helps me make rap videos would be pretty cool.
I find that many of my friends who come from relaxed households are amongst the most creative and happy compared to my friends who came from "regular" households.
DCFS has no place in telling him how to raise his kids as long as he isn't directly harming them. There is absolutely no way to know whether relaxed rules in a household has a harmful effect, and a lot of evidence would suggest quite the opposite. #heliumballoon
@weatherman: Sir I hate to say it, but you're wrong. 6 yr. olds have a very keen sense of consequence hence the hiding. Children are the most manipulative beings on earth and they WILL lie to avoid consequences.
And @ripfire... yes you normally have to correct and not punish, but as a father or 2... this warrants punishment and a hardy ass-whupping.
@omarabuhashish: Yeah, I didn't want to be a typing nazi, but your original post made me chuckle at what I was guessing was english not being your first language.
EDIT: And I made three typos in this post. There's some irony for ya.
@omarabuhashish: Relax. I'm not making fun of you. My first comment was meant more as a "Hey, remember when you called it a basement attic? That was funny." #balloon
