I'll say it again, the biggest problem with the Droid and Android in general is that you can't explain what it does in a sentence. However misleading the statement, "it just works" or "there's an app for that" both let you know right away what they do and why you want it.
If we were talking about a movie I'd wanna check out the Droid. If I didn't read Gizmodo I'd say, "hey that's cool" and buy an iPhone because I'd be sure there's an app for that.

iDon't like the ad at all. Nicely done from a production / emotional standpoint, but it tells you nothing concrete about the product that any intelligent buyer would want to know. It highlights what I hate about most iPhone vs. other phone comparisons. Everyone wants to answer that question with their favorite soundbite and be done with it. No, you really need to look at the details and decide what's best for you.
At least Apple's ads focus on important things like the ease of the UI, examples of what some of the best apps do, music and movies, etc. Maybe Verizon should just focus on what the Droid actually DOES, since that seems to be their tagline.
Microsoft can't even fart without it becoming negative world news. Like nobody else ever puts out a limited time offer. But if it's Microsoft it's some freakin' evil underworld plot.
@Nathan Obbards: it's tacky because they didn't say how "limited" the limited time was, and that mysterious limited time conveniently ran out when people were most likely to take advantage of it.
@lostarchitect: So no one should ever run a limited time, limited supply offer? For all you know, it was a limited number and other people were smart and bought it in advance. MS is not running around pulling stock from shelves, stores are running out of them and they're no longer being sold online. In no way is this tacky. That's like saying Apple is being tacky for not saying how long specific free songs on iTunes are going to remain free for. That's like saying a car dealership is being tacky for while supplies last offers.
@Nathan Obbards: Dude, come on. You're just being an apologist. They knocked off a good offer right before the holidays with no warning. That's lame. It would be lame no matter who did it.
And since you asked, yes, it IS tacky when other companies have "limited time" offers and don't say when that time ends.
@lostarchitect: I think in this case it wasn't a "limited time" per se. You could limit time if you plan on selling the product beyond the end date. However here supplies are gone, never to return. We give MS a lot of credit, but I really don't think they hire psychics. If they did, we would've never been given Clippy.
@lostarchitect: Trust me, I'm not being an apologist. I'd say it if it was fucked up. It's just how businesses work though. If you didn't get it before Christmas, too bad for you, it's your own fault, not Microsoft's. If Apple offered a limited time free upgrade to the latest version software for an iPod Touch and they didn't say when it would end and I missed out on it, I wouldn't blame them, I'd blame myself. It is in no way tacky. I think you just dislike MS so much that you are willing to view everything they do as intentionally evil. Limited supply, limited time offers are contingent upon the consumer using their brain and getting the product early, not bitching that supplies ran out at an inconvenient time or that it ended at an inconvenient time for you.
@Nathan Obbards: OK, If you're assuming that I "dislike MS so much", and not that I have a general dislike of horseshit so-called "limited time offers", then I think the problem here is really yours. Have a good one.
Just a note to remind my fellow commenters that not ALL men or ALL women are any particular thing. There are good and bad in both sexes equally. Just remember if you have a relationship, you have relationship issues. A lot of joy and a lot of heartache. Thats the way it is. Thats the way its always been. Thats the way it will always be.
@Twanzio: I was just trying to stop the ALL women bashing, we arent ALL anything. This is not a new phenom to our generation either. Since Adam and Eve, men and women have had their differences, and personally, I wouldnt change it. Viva La Difference. :D
I think it's more that after you put enough hours into these games, your save data is like an extension of yourself - if you evaluated it in terms of what you make per hour working, then even at minimum wage, this would be a tremendous loss, even not counting the emotional investment in it.
So the girl sees it as a toy the guy spends too much time on her and smashes it. The guy sees it as a direct personal attack, like if she had poisoned or stabbed him.
Personally, I don't think it's worth the risk of getting close to someone that unhinged. If a guy plays games and ignores his girlfriend she's well within her rights to leave. If she'd make a big deal about staging the destruction of one of your main hobbies... she's crazy. Get out of the house. Run for it. You don't want to be around someone that irrational.

I was 20 minutes into a 5-hour drinking-and-dancing session at Otto's. And this time, my iPhone survived.
I did need to search the web to find out if there is a Oi band version of "Sweet Caroline" (there is) but because Microsoft hasn't seen fit to make a Bing! app for the iPhone, I just Googled it.
Then, Google referred me to The Wikipedia, which never fails to irk me because it makes me question why I even bother with the Google for iPhone app.
