Some people still ask "where are the flying cars?" Well, it's been doable for almost 50 years now if I remember right - the thing is that it's not that practical, many of the designs are very noisy (like fan levitation designs), and of course, it's way too dangerous to put one in most people's hands. Even in the hands of a qualified pilot, you'd basically be barnstorming urban areas the whole way.

You have to give them props for designing a flying ugly car that will never fly. Most people who design flying cars that will never fly at least try and make the car part look good. Perhaps by pursuing an ugly flying car approach, they'll mitigate the disappointment when it inevitably doesn't fly.

So there's an actual company dedicated to making this thing? Why would they do this? Are they trying to fail?

The future is never going to happen? That's kind of a bullshit statement.

@krispykrink: well theoretically one can never exist within the future, since by being within that specific place in time they are in the present. So saying the future is never going to happen is actually an accurate statement. This shit is too confusing to go into a lot of detail. *goes back to studying physics*

@Mediocre: At least they won't fall thousands of meters down into the ground resulting in instant death when someone sabotages your jetpack or you run out of fuel.

People can't even drive in two dimensions without running into each other, telephone poles, the front of Starbucks, and farmer's markets. There's no frakking way we have the intelligence to operate flying cars with the result being total carnage.

People can't drive now with only having to worry about 4 directions (forward, back, left ,and right for the slow ones). I can't imagine what would happen if you added two more.

Uh - time to google flying cars and realize that we're approaching the 100rh anniversary of the flying car.

Moller is certainly the most fanatical flying car guy, but by no means the first.

I'm waiting for the flying Honda Civic Hatchback. The resale value should be better than most comparable flying cars. That's one of the most important things you have to think about when buying a flying car, the resale value.
