Their latest effort, the iTablet T221, packs in some great features, including a 12.1-inch LCD touchscreen (1024 x 768), Intel Core Duo (1.2Ghz), GMA 950 graphic chipset, 60GB HDD, 2GB RAM and supports 802.11a/b/g wireless networks.

The UMPC will run Windows Vista, but there is no pricing or shipping information at present. Naturally, we would be excited, but our morbid obesity is so severe, we can no longer sense our emotions. Yeah Amtek, we know we are fat, but even we have feelings, you know. We'll go drown our sorrows in a high sugar content soda. [Aving via Mobilewhack]

<![CDATA[Amtek's Sidekick-sized U560 UMPC]]> If we were to design a UMPC, making it small enough to put into our pocket is pretty much the primary feature we'd focus on. Amtek has the same idea, which is why their U560 prototype shown at Computex actually looks promising.

It's a flip-up UMPC with a full Sidekick-like QWERTY hidden underneath the closed screen. It's got an Intel 600MHz/800Mhz processor (depending on the version), a 1.3-megpaixel camera, 3600mAh battery and apparently runs Windows Vista.

There aren't very many other details, but if they can really put out this device with this form factor, we're sold.

<![CDATA[Amtek Vistagami UMPC Specs Revealed (Mark Still Hates Them)]]> Remember Amtek's Vistagami UMPC? You know, the guys who called Mark fat? We've got specs for their UMPC now.

The Vista-capable portable is running off of a 1.2GHz VIA CPU, coming with a 1GB max drive, a 2.5-inch 40GB hard drive, 7-inch 800x480 screen, Wi-Fi, a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 2.0, two USB ports, and an SD card. All this adds up to a 4-hour battery life and a pretty decent Vista tablet/UMPC for non-chubsters.

<![CDATA[Hands-On: Amtek Vista UMPC]]>
Navigating the hidden halls of the Hilton, you can find some pretty cool/weird/boring tech that is eagerly waiting for a retailer to order and distribute.

DSC_0822WTMK.JPGWe found this little UMPC gem "Vistagami" running Windows Vista with the Origami Experience Pack (we think). This prototype was a little rough around the edges, with a joystick that clicked like an NES controller, and a bit of delay when navigating the video menus. But, the touchscreen was clear, responsive and running Windows Freakin' Vista.

The Vistagami goes in to production this May and will retail for around $900.

p.s. The Amtek people called Mark fat in Chinese.
