    Reasons for pay phone use:

    (1) Don't want the caller to have your number.

    (2) You're in a subway station.

    (3) International travel / Calling card

    (4) You're my wife and you never remember to charge your phone or take your keys and you have to call the house from the corner so I can come downstairs to let you in. #payphone

    Interesting... I never really thought about that 'till now.

    The last time I used a payphone was a couple of years ago, and only because I was in a trip to Japan (yep, using a payphone in Japan). The cheapest way to make international calls there was using payphones prepared to do so.

    Back in Brazil where I live, even considering it's Brazil and all, I can't even remember the last time I used a payphone. Maybe over 10 years actually...

    But people still do use them here. Not coin operated though... they all use cards now. #payphone

    Man...last time I used a payphone...I don't think I knew how to use it. And I was 8? However, there are two payphones on my bus route to campus...doesn't matter to me, though, I've got a cellphone.

    Which sort of brings up an unrelated topic. I see people with fancy-ass cell phones, and then they're carrying around a CD player with crappy earbuds. What the hell? #payphone

    They're still pretty popular in the cities and in public places, but in schools and in suburbs, they're pretty much gone (at least as far as I've seen in Illinois)

    Also, my last time was for a quarter (for "unlimited" minutes!) about 3 years ago. #payphone

    Last year, in Tokyo, maybe a dozen times to call the GF back home. Used a phone card. Worked out to about $.50 a minute. #payphone
