<![CDATA[ Rumor: iTunes 8 Brings 'Genius', A Smart Music Grouping and Recommendation Engine ]]> It appears that some of Kevin Rose's predictions about iTunes 8 have been corroborated by other tipsters to MacRumors, which says that there's going to be a "Genius" feature that generates playlists containing songs that have similar qualities to other songs. MacRumors calls this unconfirmed because they didn't receive the tip from one of their trusted sources, apparently.

Other Kevin Rose predictions such as a "trippy" visualization with "planet like objects" and downloadable TV shows in HD haven't been confirmed, nor have previous rumors of an iTunes subscription service. But that differently-shaped iPod nano seems to be a lock. [MacRumors]

<![CDATA[ Apple Event on February 26 Launches iPhone SDK and MacBook Pro? ]]> 9to5 Mac is reporting that Apple will have yet another event on February 26 in order to launch the iPhone and iPod Touch SDK, which will have native apps that reportedly offer Exchange and Lotus Notes support. And the best part is that updated MacBook Pros with Penryn and possibly the MacBook Air trackpad could also debut there.

Apparently the date was finalized after Apple pulled out of the National Association of Broadcasters show, which means they might save the Final Cut Pro server announcement (if there is one) for the Feb 26 event as well. Remember, no one can confirm what Apple's announcing until they announce it, but this is what we know so far. [9to5Mac]

<![CDATA[ Apple NAB Buzz Building, Giz Has Tickets In Hand ]]> nab_appleevent2.jpgBuzz builds about Apple's event at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention in Las Vegas, happening on that wonderful day of days, April 15. We've got invitations in hand, and will be there to keep you posted on all the happenings.

Apple is expected to introduce a new version of its video editing application Final Cut Pro, along with much-rumored hardware updates that might include accelerated video and graphics from NVIDIA as well as an eight-core Mac Pro workstation.

Stick with us—we're no strangers to NAB, we've been going every year since 1994—and we'll keep you up to date on the latest from Apple and lots of others, too.
