Apple has given their mighty Mac Pro a power jolt this morning, allowing power-hungry fanboys the option of configuring a system with two quad-core 3.0GHz Intel Xeons. So what's all this gonna cost you? A basic 8-core system will run you $3,997. Ouch. So now that we have that rumor taken care of, how's about we start working on some of the others, huh Apple?

<![CDATA[ATI's Radeon X2800XT Brings Heavy Horsepower to Apple's Next Gen Mac Pros]]> So if the guys at AppleInsider are on the money, ATI's abnormally long X2800XT could be the graphics card to power Apple's rumored next gen Mac Pros. The red giant will feature 1GB of GDDR4 memory clocked at 2GHz while the card's core will come in at 800MHz. Basically that means it has the potential to eat Nvidia's overclocked 8800GTX for lunch. The card will also bring CrossFire technology to the Mac, so you'll be able to string two of these suckers together for maximum voltage. It's about time we get some heavy duty card options for the Mac. Better start saving now, though, as I'm sure this config won't come cheap.

<![CDATA[Mac Pro Redesigns Coming Our Way?]]> I've been holding out for either a new MacBook Pro or a new Mac Pro, and if the guys at LoopRumors are right, it looks like I'll be going for the Mac Pro. They're reporting that Apple's top of the line computer is going under the knife with new designs both internally and externally. Supposedly, the new machines will be smaller and their cooling systems will vent hot air through the top of the machines. Other than those sparse details, not much else was revealed, though it has been awhile since Apple's tower of power got some love from the redesign dept, so I'm all for it.
