Maybe you fail to see how the price point is good, but as one who purchased a pair of earbuds for $150, I'd say that this makes them damnably attractive. They're equipped similarly to my Shure SE210's, and though I don't know what the end result of this is on the sound, this makes them very intriguing.
Also, not everyone likes fat headphones. In fact, some might actually hate them, much like I do.
