Can this really be called a competitor? It really just seems like added functionality to itunes. I mean the way it's marketed, it assumes that you are already using itunes, will continue to use itunes, and offers a way to enhance it's usage. I'll go and check out the site, of course (very successful in that regards), but if I wasn't using itunes in the first place, why would I bother?

Just a devil's advocate question regarding the marketing statement, not the actual software itself, everybody...

Plus, if you were going to visit any apple store in the first place, looking to throw down some cash, I have a feeling you've probably already made up your mind which pmp/phone you will be purchasing. it doesn't completely negate the arguement the ad makes, but it is counterintuitive.

@i heart bacon hub: Depends on what percentage of Apple's revenue/profits comes from iTunes and what percentage comes from iPods.

Unlike gaming systems (undersell the hardware to encourage purchase of the software), I'm pretty sure Apple makes very little off of itunes in order to drive sales of the hardware.

So...that's why it would be a problem.
