    Because disabling capabilities is a sure-fire way to jump-start sales on Apple's little failure.

    Didn't I remember someone mention MKV works with Boxee? Oh well.

    Another sign of Steve's love for independent thinking?

    @El Tejon: Another fine Apple product: Be Creative - but only in tightly controlled channels that we'll move occasionally, just because we can. And don't even start to believe you actually own that hardware; it's a lease with a provision that we'll shut it down in a heartbeat if it does anything we don't sanction.
    Oh, and wear the schoolgirl outfit this time. Steve likes the schoolgirl costume.

    @El Tejon: You know, it's shit like this that makes me wonder why people continue buying Apple products. Honestly, Apple is FAR more anti-consumerist than Microsoft.

    @Zencyde:

    Hmm. Maybe it's because they like Apple products with running stock software and the seamless integration with other stock Apple products that they can enjoy?

    Nah, that can't be it. Mediocre 3rd party hacks with absolutely no professional quality control are the only reason Apple even has a market! Damn them for actually updating their own firmware. They should be bending over backwards for broken warranties.

    @DisposableInterloper: @drakino: If I bought the hardware, I can load flaming DOS 3.0 if I want to; 'updates' that perform 'scorched earth' installs are intentional, and part of corporate policy. There isn't a 'room of mad scientsts', Corporate is dictating 'kill everything that isn't blessed by us.'
    Don't do me 'a favor' by disabling things I've installed... if they're there, leave them the hell alone.

    I wonder what your stance would be if MS did the same thing? Calm acceptance? Active defense? Or torches and pitchforks?

    @Mekevorka: I know. I am so close to buying one of these to replace my Vista media center PC, but Netflix streaming is the thing I can't compromise on. Hopefully, Boxee can hook us up by making use of the new Silverlight player.
