I don't think it's a slideout qwerty keyboard - it's a slideout numeric keyboard in the pics.

Touchscreen phones are great, but it's all about the OS. Crappy closed systems hold no allure.

But I agree, closed architecture phone OSs completely neuter the usefulness of the hardware...

(while apparently only providing a marginal improvement in stability/user experience)

@TheSonOfKrypton: well I said it, so you should infer that closed systems hold no allure for me. To say it would be redundant.

Anyway, I wasn't talking about the iPhone. I am an iPhone user and I think it's the greatest thing since the original Palm OS. By crappy closed systems I meant the kinds we see on everything from Razrs to the LG Prada type phones. Those are truly closed systems. iPhone OS, Windows Mobile, Android, Symbian.. those are all "open" systems to some extent. Obviously the iPhone is more closed than the others because apps require approval and must be downloaded though the iTunes store, but it's still an open platform ,technically speaking.

A lot like the iPhone? I'd say if the iPhone didn't exist, neither would this.

Seriously, it's one thing to take interface and interaction cues from another device. That's fine. It's another to style the device and theme the UI such that you need to wonder if they even have an industrial designer onboard.

At what point does it become apparent that higher resolution is completely pointless, especially on something this small?

But why should we tempt you more over something you cannot buy?

Because if you didn't, you guys would be lying about being in love with shiny new things. The point is to fawn over them, not necessarily to own :D
