When you buy a soft drink from a vending machine here, and all you get is diabetes.

    Zing ZANG! haha.

Who says the economy is dead? Sometimes you do get value!

@NorwoodIsMyHero: Hell I think its cool too. Maybe I should become Japanese so I will fit-it.

I dont think ideas like that work well here because people would stay in front of the machine for hours.

@NorwoodIsMyHero: I think it's important to try out newer technologies so that society can progress (and fiddling with new gadgets is just plain fun). The development of augmented reality software has a huge potential, and testing things on the street and getting them into the market is better than leaving them as concepts.

@Panzer23: That's a little harsh way to say it, but I did actually notice how people seem to be pacified, by LCD's in public, the first time I came to the US.
Do people actually watch advertising and expect some useful information from it?

In reply to Augmented Reality Goofiness Thanks to Avatar and Coke
Here's the thing. I really, really wanted Avatar to be amazing. I really did. But from everything I've seen, it looks really bad. Like, a top-10 list of Sci-Fi clichés mixed with Ferngully. I really hope I'm wrong and the movie somehow recoups its $200+ million budget, but at this point I just don't see it.

@Segador: It won't have a problem getting back its $230 million. That I have no doubt of.

Now, whether or not the movie is any good is still up in the air.

I, however, will give Mr. Cameron the benefit of the doubt until I see the movie.

As long as this isn't another True Lies, I'll be happy.

To my knowledge he hasn't made a bad sci-fi action movie yet. (Xenogensis and Piranha's 2 don't count.)

    The Abyss, Aliens, T1 & T2? Golden.

How do these even work? I would my webcame be able to render a 3D interactive element? I'm assuming some kind of software is required?

@nutbastard: Yup. If you do everything right, you have a virtual romantic evening with a hott e-lady-of-the-night. If you screw up, you get the same virtual romance holodeck experience except your virtual pee pee cannot get an e-rection, and you are virtually humiliated. And then when you try to explain it to her, she just laughs at you for telling a pair of glasses that you've just had too much wine. #ar
