I've come to find every article I read that interests me on Gizmodo is from Rosa. Rosa, you are awesome, you are now the first columnist I will consistently follow :D #fluxcapacitorinvention
I remember watching "V for Vendetta" and thinking about how weird it was that Guy Fawkes day was the same day that Doc Brown came up with the idea for the Flux Capacitor.
Oh, and not to nitpick, but the first temporal displacement occurred at 1:20 AM, not 1:21 (Einstein left at 1:20, skipped over that minute, and then they caught back up with him at 1:21). #fluxcapacitorinvention
@elvisml2: Voila! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is it vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished, as the once vital voice of the verisimilitude now venerates what they once vilified. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin vanguarding vice....and I can't do anymore off the top of my head.
@Rosa Golijan: A very valiant venture, however, "Voilà ! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous." (I venerate the book/film with a vivacious vehemence...) #fluxcapacitorinvention
@Rosa Golijan: In my books, that doesn't count as a "fail."
Remembering more than half of such a movie quote -especially one that is so filled with alliteration it makes Peter Piper's tonguetwister seem tame- is no small feat.
I cannot even remember half the quote, although it has been a year since I've watched it. #fluxcapacitorinvention
@elvisml2: I'm Australian, we have bushrangers here like Ned Kelly...well we did in the 1800's (so Guy Fawkes seems to me like a bushranger who got a tad overambitious) :P #fluxcapacitorinvention
@Rosa Golijan: I'll forgive you this one time. Partly because my friend is getting married today, and I'm finding it unusually difficult to harbor any hatred. #fluxcapacitorinvention
Rosa, I think I love you. You're quickly becoming my favorite editor here at Giz and you still have to be recognized at the left column with the rest of the boys.
@dambo29: Rosa kicks butt!: Thing is, I could've sworn she was before. Then after a certain post got shoved down a memory hole, she was no longer in the column. Maybe I'm just imagining things, I dunno. #fluxcapacitorinvention
@Fulgrymm: I was never on the Gizmodo masthead, but I was on the Lifehacker one while I interned there. Maybe that's what you're thinking of. #fluxcapacitorinvention
Remember, remember the 5th of November, the time travel fuel and plot. I know of no reason why the flying DeLorean should ever be forgot.
But what of the man? I know his name was Doc Brown and I know in 1985, he made a time machine. But who was he really? What was he like? We are told to remember the triumph and not the man. Because a man can disappear. He can be trapped, he can be lost in a time paradox. But 34 years later, a triumph can be lost to the annals of cliched pop fiction.
I have witnessed firsthand the power of time travel. I've seen people succeed in the results of it, and cease to exist because of it.
But you cannot kiss time travel, cannot touch it or hold it. Time travel does not feel mercy or shower riches. It does not love.
And it is not time travel that I miss, it is a man. A man that made me remember the 5th of November. A man that I will never forget. #fluxcapacitorinvention
How long have you been waiting/holding on to THIS just for the chance of posting a article about this on this particular date Ms. Golijan? LOL! Guess you can now scratch this off of your bucket list... #fluxcapacitorinvention
Remember, remember, the 5th of November... ;)
I always get pissed off at myself for not checking the tv stations on October 25th, to see if anyone's got a decent sense of humor and decided to air the movie. #fluxcapacitorinvention
