Well yes, but it also causes an extra step. See, when I do laundry I usually have a whole hamper full and more of laundry to do.

So normally I would remove clothes from hamper, place in washing machine.

This thing actually adds an additional steps: Remove clothes from hamper, place into basket, place basket into washing machine.

The basket would replace the hamper. You would have to do more loads of laundry per given unit of time to compensate for any reduced dirty-laundry holding capacity of the basket versus hamper.

But all crapping-on-of-parades aside, I am actually rather intrigued by this for some reason (could they make a dryer that worked the same way?).

@dck47: Those baskets are too small to hold the amount of laundry I build up. As clothes get dirty, I throw them in the hamper, that basket looks like it could hold maybe one outfit.

@bpapa9013: Actually, I think my job is to find something wrong with just about every thing Gizmodo posts. I'm just a critic like that. Anyhow, what is really cool is when I was apartment living, I had a washer/dryer combo. Meaning, the same machine was used for both washing and drying so you could start a wash cycle and come back to dry clothes. The downside though was that it was super small.

@Shamoononon has hebetudinous dog ★★★★★: Something about the pics makes me think that this is either a model, or yeah you could maybe fit two pairs of jeans in it.

My rule of thumb for washers/dryers is that if you can't fit two midgets in it, it isn't big enough...
