Called Surfing Trails, you would think this beautiful video about Bali is about, well, surfing. But nope! It’s a biking video that travels through the wonderland that is Bali, exploring trails on volcanoes and cuts through the forest and jumps through the hills. It’s a lovely exploration of the island.
Bali is a beautiful place, but one of the drawbacks of beautiful places is that it's hard to consume all of the beauty at once. That's why the Bambu Inda Hotel built a glass-bottomed hotel room on top of a fish-filled pond. It's supposed to create a "fishing village experience."
You see that phone booth-sized tiki hut made of bamboo, stone and glass? That's a specially made building that houses the only ATM in a village. On top of that, it's completely solar powered, naturally designed for its island and holds a whole lotta cash.
Having been to Bali several times, I can tell you that this marine research vessel concept is about a million years away from most of their architecture. Saying that, however, the next photo juxtaposes the old and new beautifully:
Sunlight. A tropical breeze blowing across your hands as you take down notes. The Green School is a far cry from the windowless, prison-like schools that I attended growing up. I bet this school churns out creative, telepathic geniuses.
