The phone is the phone. Your clothes are clothes. They either function to your liking or they don't, and the general wisdom is that which satisfies your requirements for the lowest price is deemed "best".

Why does slapping some european douchebag's name on something make it immune from criticisms regarding functionality or even build quality, while raising the price anywhere from 2 to 20 times the price of an equivalent item?

Designer clothes are made in the same god damn factories as the rest of the clothes are, and their high price never translates into anything beneficial to the people who produce the clothes (or phone, or whatever)
