Ye be needin' a piratical analogy here, mates. In this situation, a better analogy - from a sizemodo place on th' poop deck - be grapeshot versus ballshot.
Grapeshot be great fer spraying across th' deck to clear lobsters an' able seamen; ballshot be fer hullin' the enemy an' sendin' her to th' murky depths. Each be proper in its place. If I be tryin' to secure an enemy ship of the line as a prize, I be usin' th' grape to take out th' men to ready fer boardin'. But, if I be seein' a scalliwag who be needin' t' be made an example, he be eatin' a lead ball.
An' that be th' pirate view of the feudin' twixt th' apple an' th' berries.
I'm going to just have to give the benefit of the doubt and say that it's very possible, no matter how unlikely it may seem, that RIM is just playing off of the iconic bullet-through-apple photo as seen on the cover of the book "The Man Who Stopped Time", featuring the photographic work of Harold Edgerton.
@rcast1986: My guess is his mom supports him. Judging by his posts he's got an 8th grade mentality, and the blind fanboyism to match.
I've said it before, I've got nothing against Apple products, but I can't stand their whole superiority complex, and constant need to belittle and attack their competitors by name, when the major competitor (Microsoft) has in fact rarely (if ever) attacked back, and in fact, has gone out of their way to help Apple (once, with a lifesaving loan) and even supports their OS with compatible software.
Apple is simply at the bottom of the pile and feels the need to sling shit, because it's all they've got in their hands.
@BeautifulAgony: I'm going to have to rebut here. Apple isn't attacking anybody, they are simply taking advantage of the flaws in Microsoft's operating system by advertising them. It's not outright slandering another company, they are just capitalizing on the fact that Vista has cause lots of people headaches and by way of mock advertising, offering consumers an option to Windows.
@G-Ram: Oh boy... are you serious? Apple has been relentlessly attacking anybody and everybody who they see as a threat, which is essentially, everybody, apparently. That attitude is abundantly clear in their advertising.
Apple has spent the majority of their advertising deliberately attacking Microsoft, and not just their operating system. They have made specious and unfounded claims regarding Vista operation, Microsoft budgets, the way Microsoft develops software, and have made direct insults and derogatory statements regarding the intelligence of Windows users.
The so-called "flaws" Apple has chosen to "advertise" (wow, thanks!) were based on ignorance of the OS and have been either common misconceptions, or simple fixes by adjusting preferences. Continuing to harp on them only makes Apple look even more computer-illiterate and childishly petty.
Compare Microsoft's commercials to Apple's. Count how many of Apple's ads make derisive, derogatory, inflamatory, and/or negative claims against a competitor, or a competitor's customers. Now count how many of Microsoft's ads make any claims about anything other than their own product. Watch the (non iPhone) Apple ads and tell me how many of them ever showed the product at all, or even mention it, or what it does, or can do.
Now why do you think that is? And please, if I'm wrong, and you see any Microsoft ads that are deliberately attacking Apple's products, OS, or users... do share.
@aednichols: gun-toting RIM employees are nothing to laugh about. it's not so funny when one does a drive-by of your neighborhood and you or your family is pelted with frozen, possibly cg blackberries...
I to like the Soup, and posted this same video on Monday in the post on the guy using the Animal puppet to avoid speed cameras. [gizmodo.com] Still funny though.
