Not a bad price for what you get. I might get one to add to my turn-outs at the FD. Can ALWAYS use some prussik cord. Plus I've been meaning to supplement my bail-out kit.

I wonder if they can make 20' of 1" tubular webbing into a matching necklace?

I knew a guy who got stuck in a hotel fire on the 5th floor. After that he NEVER travelled without rappeling equipment.... Im sure he would love this thing!

@aprather: Pre 9/11 but post 1993, I always said that if I worked in a high rise, I would own either a 1000 foot length of line and a cheap harness/descender rig or a surplus parachute. I always figured that even if I couldn't make it to the ground, I could always bypass the floor that was a problem. And if the parachute didn't work, I was in the same place I was before. I also realized that if I did do this, I would be swooped up by the FBI/NSA and named by conspiracy theorists as being someone "In on it" as opposed to a psychotic paranoid.

@Git Em SteveDave loves this guy->★: Nah, what you do is make sure that the equipment is prominently stored in your office in a glass door case that reads, "In case of Fire/Terrorist attack, break glass, rappel to safety."

I have a habit of making sure that people know I'm well prepared in an office. Flashlights, extra pens, a knife, etc. I work on the 1st floor of a building atm, so the rope would be overkill. I keep my tire chains in my car at all times, and a general supply of goods "just in case" at home.

Generally if anyone asks, "I'm preparing for the zombie apocalypse." They either laugh and go on, or they don't get it and look worried.

@Lite: I don't want to be in the bathroom when something happens, and Chet, the jerk who has that stupid comic of the catapillar and the french fry hanging in his cube, steals my chute. Of course, I could always add a remote control and a length of primacord on the main straps....

@EBone: eds aren't saying necessarily that it is masculine. Only that relative to other bracelets, there isn't one that is more masculine.

@EBone: Worrying about whether a guy is wearing a bracelet or not != masculine.

I wear two titanium bracelets 24/7. If I'm not wearing those, I'm wearing a pair of steel ones that bolt shut. I don't care that I'm wearing them, or if anyone feels they are or are not masculine.

There's nothing emasculating about wearing jewlery or similar such accessories.

@DisposableInterloper: We'll have to agree to disagree. In my opinion, the only jewelry a man should wear is a wedding ring (if married) and a nice wristwatch.

It would be pretty sweet if they could make a bracelet out of spiderman's spider webbing. I'd buy one of those.

I replaced my shoe and boot laces with 550 cord after reading an article on it. Since it contains 5-6 strands inside, I have about 30 feet of string on each foot. There is one problem. Paracord, for good reason, doesn't like to stick itself, so knots tend to come undone. I learned a new knot which is a basic shoe knot, except you go over the first loop twice then pull through. Easier than a double knot, and pulls out almost the same way. If I had a spare buckle floating around, I'd try this.

Pity the poor 550lb fool who'll end up splattered on the ground, after that cord slices through his hands...

I'd think a bigger problem would be unweaving the damn thing in the middle of a potty-emergency just so you can get your pants off without damaging stuff.
