I like it visually, but the true measure of the architecture is the comfort and functionality of the space to the people who be inside of it. I hope its comfortable AND cool.

So I gotta ask (being unfamiliar with the larger stores) what does Apple take up all that room with?? I mean, in the local store at the mall they manage to fit all their products, a genius bar, some solid accessories, and software in a tiny little store.

Is it just a ton of space for work shops and Genius-ing (sure its a verb)?

For a company with so little product offerings itself (In terms quanitity, not quality. Fanboys - remain calm) its seems that a 3 story mansion is overkill.

@Cody Cook: Yet somehow they manage to earn more money per foot than most other (all?) stores. Apple's massive 5th Ave store in NYC, for example, made $440 million last year.

I knew there was a reason I did not go into architecture. If you were to ask me, I would say the glass and steel Apple portion in the center looks completely out of place from the rest of the design.

@Monty: That glassy rectangle in the middle with the Apple logo on it is just part of the shipping materials. Once they finish the building, it comes off.
