<![CDATA[Best of Gizmodo Final Thunderdome Battle]]> bestofgiz.jpgThis is it, the moment all you money-grubbing techies have been waiting for: the final Best of Gizmodo vote. This time, there's swag attached: a chance to win a $500 Circuit City gift card.

Quick overview: over the past few weeks, Gizmodo sought reader nominations for the Best Gizmo of 2005 in a variety of categories, then readers voted for the best in each category. This week, we've been doing elimination rounds between individual category winners that has left us with two final gizmos that will go head-to-head in a vote for the year's best.

The fifth elimination is the iPod nano. It was a close fight in the beginning, but the nano began to trail off after the Treo and PSP fanboys got their votes in. That leaves our final two competitors for the Best Gizmo of 2005: the Sony PSP, a gaming/multimedia all-in-one with hacking abilities out the wazoo, and the Treo 650, a smartphone that has the ability to change people's lives.

After voting, you'll have the option to submit an email address that will then be entered in the random prize drawing for the $500 Circuit City gift card. (Our standard contest rules apply.) Polls will close on Saturday, so hurry up and get your vote on, after the jump.

<![CDATA[Best of Gizmodo - Elimination Round 2]]> bestofgiz.jpgWe have been doing this Best of Gizmodo for damn near two weeks now, so if you don't know what is going on you either: A. Need to come to Gizmodo a lot more often, or B. Pay attention. Today we are eliminating two more competitors. Remember, you vote for the product that you want to stay in the running for best of the year. Whichever products garner the least votes will be eliminated. On Friday we will have the final two gizmos competing for the top dog for 2005 in a poll format. In this poll you may submit an e-mail address with your vote and after all is said and done we will be giving away a $500 Circuit City gift card to one lucky individual.

Today we bid farewell to another Apple product, gasp! See you later iMac G5, I'm sure our paths will cross in the future. Second to go today is the fabulous TiVo. Even though you are out of the running for best gizmo, you still hold a place in my heart by keeping all of my Lost, Survivor and Smallville episodes recorded for later viewing.

Get your vote on, after the jump.

<![CDATA[Best of Gizmodo Elimination Round 1]]> bestofgiz.jpgYeah, it's Tuesday and Gizmodo is finally back in the saddle again. The eggnog hangover is cured, the latke oil is almost hot, and it's time to get back to the nitty-gritty—voting for the Best Gizmo of the Year.

Today is the first in a series of elimination rounds to determine the Best of Gizmodo 2005. Here's how it will work: Each day the previous votes will be cleared from the slate and a new poll will begin for the gadgets that get to stay on the island. Two are already gone, two more will be stuffed in a burlap sack and thrown in the river tomorrow. On Thursday just one item will be disappeared. And that's when it gets fun, because on Friday for the final Thunderdome battle you will submit an e-mail address with the vote, and that will go into a final drawing for a $500 gift certificate. Where to? Maybe Circuit City, but it's still TBD (write if you have suggestions). Remember, the only way to win is to vote on Friday in the final round.

But back to the business at hand, which is bidding adieu to the Motorola RAZR and Apple Powerbook. Maybe it was the RAZR's stinky keypad, or its stinky-er UI—either way, we love to watch you walk away. And the matte finish is off the Apple Powerbook, which got cut earlier than anyone predicted. But a mediocre 7% of the votes means... buh-bye.

After the Jump: Round two of the Best of Gizmodo finals. Get those votes in quick.
