    @jiveabillion: Either A) it's so simple a tinker that a floor person can rectify it quickly, or B) it can cause considerable trouble for a floor person by the manager because it's so troublesome an alteration.


    Either way, it's lame, and not funny.

    Ok or you can hold off buying a new TV and use your gift card later on in the year when they sell TVs for almost dirt cheep. 46" last year during the holidays was going for something crazy like 699. 500 bucks get you quite a bit these days and plus there are now 17 different models of a 32 inch under 499 right now on Bestbuy.com.


    Ohhh and sales tax? Yeah, thank your local governments for that one. Best Buy has no control over sales tax at all.

    Yeah, I was tempted to say 'Fuck Best Buy' by reading the headline, but sets have gotten so much cheaper.


    Only thing that really bugs me is the sales tax. What kind of shit is that?

    As a corporate policy this is hideous, fortunately the policy at my local Best Buy is to hire idiots who are incapable of such trickery.


    This allowed me to not only get a price match on an item that was out of stock at the competitor (conveniently right next door), but, due to their employees' inability to differentiate between models, a higher speced version.

    A lot of those seem like pretty standard requirements on most price match policies. The difference is, a lot of times if you go to a Wal-Mart they will override the price anyways once you talk to a manager.

    Bah, price matching is just a gimmick. I wouldn't expect a brick and mortar to match an internet price, and retailers all maintain similar margins. IF the price difference is real, then you should just buy the merchandise at the other store. Nobody's going to match some other guy's misprinted "sale" flyer price. I just don't see these exceptions as much to get worked up about.

    @underwhelm: Yeah, but they will automatically try and deny you unless you argue the case that the price-match you want meets all of the policy requirements. And then even when you are right, they will try not to give it to you.
