We're talking discounts of up to $600 (maybe even more if purchased with an online discount). That puts the 67" (HL67A750) 1080p LED-lit DLP at $1800 after the $600 price cut. Obviously, there are compromises with rear projection, but personally I would rather have both good picture quality and the wads of cash I would blow on a thinner LCD.

A list of old and new MAP prices on Samsung DLPs:

•HL61A650/61” (Lamp) $1299.99 ($300 savings)
•HL61A750/61” (LED) $1699.99 ($200 savings)
•HL67A750/67” (LED) $1799.99 ($600 savings)
•HL72A650/72” (Lamp) $2199.99 ($600 savings)

<![CDATA[Panasonic Updates 103-inch Plasma, Drops Price by One Car]]> The good news: Panasonic announced their newest 103-inch plasma, which will have updated features such as 10000:1 contrast ratio, 4 HDMI ports, Deep Color and x.v.Color support, not to mention a $20,000 price drop. The bad news: it'll still cost you around $50,000. In addition to the aforementioned features, the most incredible use of the gigantor display might be viewing photos and AVCHD home videos through the built-in SD port. Available now only in Japan, we're pretty sure that if you have the money to buy the television, you have the money to get Japan's friendly locals to load the 750lb set onto a boat or something. <![CDATA[Sony Refuses To Enter +100-Inch HDTV War]]> It would seem that 100-inch or larger LCD sets are best left to the big boys, and Sony is, at least for now, not included in that particular club. "I think it is unnecessary for many companies to make a 100-inch TV," explains Sony Corp President Ryoji Chubachi.

He claims that there currently isn't enough of a demand for such extreme sizes. Considering that Sony buys its panels from Samsung, we're not even sure they could make a 100+ screenie. Guess we'll have to go to Panasonic, Matsushita, Sharp, or even LG instead once we win the lotto. [Japan Today]
