The main photo, with the gondolas, looks very suspiciously like much of Bangkok, to be honest (which also has some 10 million or more people).
I *literally* take a "water taxi" (which looks a bit like that gondola, but with a motor) to my client's office every day, through Bangkok's canal system. The only thing missing from post-flood NYC is all the cute Thai girls!
@Kirkaiya: Yeah I have been to Bangkok and its one of those places you need a stiff drink on the flight back to assess and rationalize the things you did there....
@F1Morgan: I've been here so long now, I think nobody makes a drink stiff enough for me to do that, lol. Maybe if I start main-lining grain...hmmmmm
One thing that's scary is that Bangkok already has giant pumps working 24/7 pumping water out of some areas, because the whole city is slowly sinking while the sea is rising. Some parts of downtown (Silom especially) are sometimes under a foot or more of rainwater, during flash-floods in the rainy season. Nothing like being trapped at work because your office is surrounded by a foot of dirty water, complete with swimming rats, about 1 mile from one of the largest shopping malls in the world (Siam Paragon).
Optimistic Post Apocalyptic scenario?
Not only people managed somehow to keep electricity, but also invented some way of purifying the putrid city water...
Anyway, nice ideas. Not very impressive execution though... they look more like rough collage concepts than concluded pieces.
As a female mostly x PC-gamer, I understand the results. I no longer really have the time or motivation to maintain the best gaming equipment or character stuff so I'm not a player to be taken seriously. I'm the creepy old chick with the dumb looking character that only gets invited to group events as more of a mascot than anything. I'm also about the only one that can manage to kill my own group members.
Does it hurt my feelings? No. I just don't have the time and motivation to be a serious player. I think most females (not all), feel this way too. It's hard arguing with a testosterone filled male why you don't care that your character is a fool.
@Shamoononon: I shave my legs.: as a guy who plays games the same way, I play games in my free time, which I don't have much of.
Sure I enjoy games, and read reviews, get excited about cool new releases but tbh, I didn't buy any new consoles (student), got given a wii for free and Im surviving.
Mainly cos my flatmate has fallout 3 (which seems to be mentioned a lot here) on his PC, and Im mucking about with a character on there.
I've never needed a Tivo - who would pay to use a VCR?
While PCs have long been able to act as DVRs, for a scheduled event, if you're already doing something on your PC, you're going to drop frames capturing, and it will effectively make your PC unusable while recording. It would also fill up your hard disks very fast.
I just subscribe to a satellite provider that has the option of PVR receivers - that way I can record what I want when I want, even on 2 channels at once now, for no extra fee, and skip commercials instantly, pause and rewind live TV, etc... all the usual features.
...but as I watch less and less TV, I find the occasional Bittorrent download isn't exactly squashing my net connection either. It's often neccesary anyway as the networks love to play shell games with their broadcast slots.

Have fun balancing an actual lens on that camera, buddy. And making sure all your shots aren't pointed at a downward angle.
This goes beyond creating a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. This creates a problem where there currently is none.
