Do you honestly think Amazon will come out with ANOTHER Kindle when they just released one a few months ago? So that's a big fuck you to the ones that bought the kindle 2 then huh?
@Andrew Knight: releasing a different model that has a different target audience isn't a big "fuck you" to the people that already bought one. Especially if it's more expensive, larger, heavier, etc.
I have the K2 that I bought just a little more than a month ago, and sure I'll be pissed if they come out with one that is exactly the same dimensions and price, but has a bigger screen, but I don't see that happening.
@Noobs-R-Us: Color would defeat the purpose of "electronic ink" that simulates reading text on paper, and not a screen. Unless there have been major advancements that no one has heard about...
@@prixdc: I'm pretty sure that they have color ink on paper these days. I've even seen it myself!
Seriously though, while that's a great idea, I doubt it. If anything it's more likely to be the connection between a University, where textbooks get read, than with anything having to do with color. And as another website pointed out there is an historic connection with that building and publishing - apparently that's where the NYT was in the 1800's.
I certainly hope this is true. It would be a huge boost to Amazon and the whole ebook market if Amazon came out with both a textbook-capable reader and arrangements with textbook companies for the content. And with plenty of lead time on next Fall's academic year.
I think this is a dumb move. By announcing a version with a bigger screen only several months after the last version, Amazon is teaching the sort of behavior that prevent a lot of potential Mac owners from buying - the philosophy of "I'll wait three months to see what features they'll add instead of buying now."
