I think this is a very interesting concept, I know it is in its prototype stage but I can see this being easily developed to a commercially viable model. I see this as being appealing very much to those more focused on computer or digital art who mightn't be able to translate their skills using traditional drawing tools. It would also enable them to produce work with human-like qualities. Quite frankly the idea of being able to achieve this in your own home is quite a radical concept! Yes of course you could ague that they can print their works but the Muralizer gives this a whole new exciting appeal I find, with the possibly of putting more "life" into some of these pieces. I personally know some people who could blow your mind with their digital pieces but would have below average skills with traditional art tools so the concept of the Muralizer would certainly appeal to those and those wanting to experiment with new mediums as well. I think this project looks great and is full of future opportunities! Keep it up I hope it goes well for you!
Alan: "This is great art Tom, it starts off as a nice depiction of a woman standing by a stream but tapers of into an erratic slither of lines, what do you mean to express with this art?"
Tom: "Basically, the computer froze at that point, and I had to CTRL+ALT+DEL from there on..." #muralizer
wait shhh, hang on a second i think i've got an idea... alright check this out, instead of using a robot, why not just borrow a projector, and trace what you want onto your wall! #muralizer
@James Marino: Sir, are you a robot? If so, kudos to you... but it still lacks a certain joie de vivre of @Jrsy Devil's Advocate®: 's comprehensive body of truckstop bathroom work. #muralizer

This could easily be accomplished with a device similar to an etch a sketch. Adjustable to fit any wall or any portion of a wall. Simply mount it ,run the a connection to a computer and wha la you have an instant wall printer. That could be cheaper than 200 bucks.
@pz: Actually, the 2.0 system framework won't fit on the Dream. No doubt there may be unsupported ROMs to correct for this, but it looks like there won't be an official OTA 2.0 rollout for the Dream (aka G1), or probably even the mT3G. Other than bug fixes and security enhancements, 1.6 looks to be the last hurrah for the Dream and myTouch. The system memory space is simply too small, and because the Android development team has clearly expressed no interest in running apps from SD, there is no simple way to make room. Donut was "late" for this reason; it had to be pared down to get shoehorned into the miniscule footprint. #android20
@PMZanetti: Totally irrelevant? A curious choice of words. It is feature rich, open source, and shows a lot of development interest. Every major U.S. carrier is interested and has optioned devices with Android. I find it difficult to logically apply the term "irrelevant" except to imply that you find it irrelevant because you've chosen the iPhone. If you feel that any competition is irrelevant, well then, I have to dismiss you as an ignorant troll. #android20
I'm using a Treo Centro. Is there some kind of Android program that will let me import all the contact information appropriately into the Droid phone? If there is, then I plus many Centro users would probably switch to the Droid.
@satow: You just have to sync your contacts with your Google account. I don't know how to do that with Palm, but it's really easy with Blackberry and WinMo. Once they're in your Google account, they're automagically on your android phone. #android20

Anyway, I think this is kind of cool, and for anyone else who does as well, they need a little private funding to get this thing going.

and kick in some money to back this project if you like the concept. #muralizer

I have something that can do this, it's called a printer.
