But here's a German artist who felt that her art should begin with a slightly different question: "How will it blend?"

In her series Nicht Klotzen, Sondern Kleckern Sarah Illenberger assembled a collection of slick European blenders, hand mixers and stick blenders and put each one to use as a brush in a different painting. I'm no art critic, but I'm gonna say the hand mixers were the most aesthetically pleasing, while the big tabletop Bosch was pretty much a bust. The real question is, what gear should Illenberger use to paint with next? [Today and Tomorrow]

<![CDATA[The Gas-Powered Blender with Handlebars, For Guys Totally Secure in Their Masculinity]]> You're a big man, and you're so secure in your manhood that you're not afraid to proclaim your manliness in everything that you do just so everyone knows that you're a man. That's why you'll only make frozen mixed drinks with a blender powered by a 43cc 2-stroke engine that has handlebars for controls. That way, no one will think you're some sort of sissy for drinking a pomegranate margarita. Because even the most manly of men enjoy a fruity frozen beverage with the boys on a hot summer's day. It's exactly the kind of thing you need to get some energy before going out in a roving pack and beating up people who are different from you. I'm a man! [Product Page via GearCrave]

<![CDATA[Blender With Built-In Tachometer: How Fast Does It Blend?]]> We present the latest evolution in "Will It Blend?" technology: A 900-watt, 20,000-RPM blender with a built-in tachometer. Although I've been quite happy with my run-of-the-mill Cuisinart, I have slight gadget lust for the brushed steel-y, $134 L'Equip RPM blender and a pulsing desire to see how many RPMs it takes to liquefy my new GH controller. It's 2008's version of "How Many Licks?" [Tabletools.com via BBG]

<![CDATA[Blendie 2000 Voice-Controlled Blender Does In Fact Blend (Video)]]> The geeks at MIT modded a blender so that it's controlled by the pitch and the intensity of your voice. Judging from the video, the louder and higher you growl, the faster the Blendie 2000 will whir. (We're not certain if other less freakish sounds will work.) Though I can't really see this taking off in most home kitchens, and a Martha Stewart personal demo is probably out of the question, it would make an interesting addition to frat houses all across America. Video after the jump... [TechEBlog]

<![CDATA[Will It Blend? Crazy Old Man Blends Everything in Powerful Blender]]>
You know those late night infomercials where they cut a pair of shoes in half for no real reason? This is kinda like that, but just about a billion times cooler (estimating, of course). Blendtec is hawking a blender that they claim can blend pretty much anything under the sun like, "40 pens!" Their Web site has a whole bunch of "Will It Blend?" videos of wacky things being blended, so if you've got a few minutes to kill (because you're without a PS3) and want to laugh at complete and utter nonsense, have at it.

Thanks, Richard!
