It looks even skinnier than Apple's offering, being a scant 0.16-inches deep, and weighing a mere 0.01-pounds. Nevertheless, the skinny earbud-like device will give you five hours talk and seven days of standby. It'll be available in Europe at first, from this month for around $60 for black and silver, $76 for silver steel color. [Headset gazette via Mobile burn]

<![CDATA[Bluetrek Updates Their Weatherproof Bluetooth Headset to X3]]> It's been more than two years since Bluetrek dumped their X2 headsets onto the world, which is more than enough time to perfect the design and functionality to make this X3 even better. Is it? Based on the stats, the talk time has decreased from 14 hours to 8, but has gone from half an ounce to 0.45 ounces. It's also cheaper than the original was, with a $59 price tag and a launch date of June. Why would anyone need a weatherproof Bluetooth headset? Don't look at us like we're the only ones who call their accountants in the shower. [ElectricPig]

<![CDATA[Surfacesound Compact Saves You Cost of a Ticket]]> The SurfaceSound Compact may be simply another bluetooth car speakerphone on paper, but its interface and design has definitely grabbed our attention. The visor-mounted SurfaceSound connects to your phone after the microphone is pulled down into position. This simple, tactile method of activation is superior to the usual button press and would make speakerphone usage easier to become a habit.

Though the $100 MSRP seems steep, it's on par with other bluetooth devices at launch. The SurfaceSound Compact has a rechargeable battery rated for 15 hours of talk time or 22 days of standby, and features Bluetooth 1.2 connectivity. We just hope Bluetrek and Contour Design have paid equal attention to sound quality, as now we need devices like this to stay legal. [Product Page via iLounge]

<![CDATA[Bluetrek X2 Bluetooth Water-Resistant Headset]]> The Bluetrek X2 is an earpiece that's not quite so delicate as most, called the first water resistant and weatherproof Bluetooth headset by its manufacturer. This means if you get caught in a rainstorm it won't be ruined, but you probably won't want to do any underwater basketweaving while wearing it. The X2 is also said to be shock resistant, so it can probably withstand the pounding of a vigorous run, but all bets are off if you happen to be wearing it while totaling that Ferrari Enzo. Offering 14 hours of talk time and able to stand by for three weeks, it weighs just a half an ounce. Available in early March for $94.
