I have these so I will clear some things up:
Credit cards: I tried to ruin a debit card I don't really use (so no loss) but I couldn't.
IT stuff: If anything its HELPFUL. No way could it damage a hard drive, but it's great for picking up a screw in a corner of the case.
MRI: It would rip them the fuck out from across the room. My insurance card has a notation of the magnets on the back just in case.
Airport security: Doesn't even set off the alarms.
Store security: Well, you can tell when they are working or not (buzzzzz if they are, nothing if not). I've found a good portion of them do not work.
Hope that helps anyone interested in getting this done. #bodymods

I have these magnets implanted so I'll clear some things up:
MRI Machine: They'd rip right the fuck out. My insurance card has the magnets noted on the back.
Security: They do not set off metal detectors. Though you can tell whether the things are on or not. Most are not.
Credit cards: I tried on my debit card that I don't use very often. It's not strong enough to affect it.
Hard drives: same.
Hope that clears things up for anyone interested in doing it. #bodymods

i've heard about that tank thing, and have seen pictures of metal tables sticking into the side of the tube because it was too close. but, the fact that my shoes with tons of metal pieces in it were no bother leads me to believe that nothing would happen. #bodymods

All I know is this. My neighbor, who owns a crane company, had his welder need an MRI. They would not do the MRI until he had an eye exam to make sure that since he didn't always use a mask, there was no metal that may have arced off and got stuck in his eye. #bodymods

someone posted recently that actually has them, though. #bodymods

@relawson: Well, I have been dealing with magnets a lot lately, as they are necessary for the RoofCoffeeCup to work and stay on properly. This cup will stick on my steel toe shoes pretty good, as well. #bodymods

I mean, ok, so maye it kills the skin, but whatever, it just means that it won't hurt if you cut your finger. Sounds win/win to me! #bodymods

That said, it is pretty cool some of the things they can do with it and as they learn more about it and it becomes safer, I could definitely see it becoming useful in some professions. Think of being an electrician and being able to tell a wire is live before accidentally grabbing it. #bodymods
