    But how fast does it recharge? I think this technology sounds great, but the greatest hurdle to overcome in absolute domination of electric vehicles is the time it takes to gas up the truck. If a battery could be made that took, say, five minutes to reach a full charge, then I don't see any reason for the internal combustion engine to stay around. Just show up to the charge station, plug in, grab a slushy and some jerky, and then be on your next adventure.

    It's the reason why electric cars are basically a doomed technology. They were sort of a nice idea in theory but in practice they're not cars in the same way fuel powered cars are. They haven't caught on and likely never will unless they can at least be charged quickly.

    The future of green auto-mobiles likely lies in hydrogen fuel cells.

    As a person who just spent a large portion of his life *REMOVING* wallpaper from a old house, I take great offense in that. Please, never ever suggest wallpaper to anyone again. You're not being sustainable and thinking of the future generations.

    Soon we will be buying batteries in sheets the same way we do stamps.

    Hopefully we won't have to deal with those 2-cent stamps for devices that need just a bit more power.

    @firemunkie: "These nanomaterials are special," Cui said. "They're a one-dimensional structure with very small diameters." The small diameter helps the nanomaterial ink stick strongly to the fibrous paper, making the battery and supercapacitor very durable. The paper supercapacitor may last through 40,000 charge-discharge cycles – at least an order of magnitude more than lithium batteries. The nanomaterials also make ideal conductors because they move electricity along much more efficiently than ordinary conductors, Cui said.

    @Curves: I like the idea but not the aesthetic design they've done. I'm a big fan of shoes myself, at least from an observer standpoint... but I must concur, these aren't very sexy or appealing. Nevertheless, hats off to the paper folder who managed to figure this one out. #papershoes

    @Kaiser-Machead: Actually, it says a lot about our culture. It could just have easily been a shot from an Origami nature documentary. In today's day and age, every natural reproductive act can be construed as porn. Where do you think all those cute little paper swans come from? They're not just lovingly crafted by a supreme being.
