The ikon by Breville combines your toaster with a kettle, the perfect breakfast machine for when your visiting friends from overseas ask for something other than your trademark Egg McMuffin on a plate. At $130, it's the same price as Breville's LED-gauged standalone toaster. So before dropping any cash, decide if it's more important for you to have hot water or a kitchen that glows as unnaturally bright as your entertainment center. [product via Techfresh]

<![CDATA[This is How a High Tech Smart Toaster BBQ's Your Bread]]> Breville is selling this $130 high tech toaster. For that price, you get a stainless steel case, an LED indicator and slider that is as smooth as a DJ mixer's cross fader, motorized lifts and clamps that are capable of 7 pounds of lift (yes), and electrical elements that are rated to last 90 years.

The LEDs are a nice touch, because they double as a countdown timer, but the elements are surprisingly strong. I burned my cheap wheat grain, despite the "look and check" function. It's not the toaster's fault, I just underestimated the power of this thing. And also the bell is kind of not loud enough for my tastes. For $130, its a nice toaster, but how about reducing the totally unnecessary lift power in the motors and giving me some sort of burn detector. Also, Wilson has used some Breville gear before, and although the build quality looks amazing, he's said that they break eventually. Something about being too high tech for their own good. But these are supposedly sturdier and have a 1 year warranty, so take comfort in that. [Music by the King]

<![CDATA[Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup Brewer Debuts in Shiny Stainless]]>
If you're no longer content with the simple Senseo, now you can get the Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single Cup Brewer, a single-cup coffee maker completely covered in stainless steel. Hey, it even has a backlit LCD screen that gives it that extra high tech goodness. At $299, it aims to please with a charcoal filter for the water tank and a reusable coffee filter, too. There's also a storage bay up top that holds a few Keurig K Cups, those easy-cleanup single-serve coffee pods that are available in around 150 varieties of your favorite beverages including good old java, cocoa and tea. Coffee snobs need not apply, but this is the high-end of the "easy-bake oven" class of coffee making. [Breville, via Single Serve Coffee]

<![CDATA[Breville iKon CT75XL Toaster: Lifty Looky, and It's Right Tidy]]> Even toasters are getting in on the purdy design act, and this four-slice model, the Breville iKon CT75XL, lets you "lift and look" at the bread to see how well it's done without resetting the timer. It also has swank-looking backlit LCD controls, and is made of what the company calls "quadruple-pressed hand-brushed" stainless steel.

Sounds like a lot of pressing and brushing work, so for that they charge you $80. But is it cool to the touch? That's what's really important for those of us with roasted fingers and popsicle toes. One thing's for sure, its cool to the eyes.

Other toasters we have known and loved (or someday might):

Whoa, look at this crazy design: It's a rollertoaster by award-winning vaporware artist Jaren Goh:

And that Brevill beauty sure beats the hell out of our previous favorite toaster, the classic $579 commercial-grade Toastmaster TP 409 workhorse, capable of 300sph (slices per hour):
