    In reply to Radio Uses Calculator Solar Panels to Foretell Bridge Collapses
    I just wonder how they will power the sensors under the bridge. I could picture a small wind turbine which would take advantage of the large winds under there, b/c solar wouldn't work.

    @NHTOB_GitEmSteveDave loves->★: Or they could just run a wire to a solar panel on the bridge?

    @iamholland: DC doesn't do well over long distances of wire.

    @NHTOB_GitEmSteveDave loves->★:

    It's very low current, probably micro-amps. You wouldn't have much loss. Besides, you could use the re-bar in the bridge to carry the current. 1.2" diameter metal should minimize your dc losses!

    @GiltProto: Rebar isn't usually exposed, as that's what leads to corrosion and then cracking. And exposure to water leads to cracking due to it's expansion.

    @NHTOB_GitEmSteveDave loves->★: Which is why we need these sensors. It's a vicious cycle
