@Z: For a minute there, I was scratching my head going, "Who is this 'Z' dude and why does he think he is best? What's a marklin? And what does any of this have to do with this story?"
Ah, now I've got it. Märklin is a model train company and Z is a scale of those trains.
Make it contain a holographic space battle, or maybe a holographic reenactment of the Klendathu drop (with Basil Poledouris score) and maybe I'll consider opening my wallet.
OK, what am I missing here? The height of that mountain/tunnel would seem to be much taller than the depth of the lid, which looks to be fairly shallow. How do you close this thing? Do you have to first remove the mountain (and possibly other features)? Or is the mountain and its trees/houses some kind of squishy foam?
@bosskev: "100% aluminium, 100% polystyrene", and "Size 50 x 37 x 12cm" Maybe you're not seeing it correctly? You probably have to remove the picture, but after that it's about 5" tall.
@spannu: Well, of course you'd have to remove the picture of the lake. If you didn't, when you shut the lid you'd be dumping water all over your train set. Duh!
The photo inside the lid looks photoshopped in, and the lid doesn't look deep enough to accommodate the mountain tunnel. Cool idea though....if it cost $100 not $1500.
@BikesAreNeat: It looks like the turf part is built into the lid, meaning that the actual "lid" is probably several inches deep. That way you can actually get a low-angle view.
I can only imagine what humongous bet he must have lost to have been forced to post pics of his "handiwork". I mean, to suffer this level of public humiliation by demonstrating what a shamefully poor designer you are via this tacky, pointless
