"Hell, even Canada hit 76%, and they've got way more land and way fewer people"

    Uh, no shit?

It's much easier to have higher household penetration percentage when you have less households.

Just throwing this out there - broadband penetration is important, but it is not the only thing that constitutes how well-developed a country's infrastructure is. For example, Estonia does not have tap water that you can drink, unlike the US. Maybe they spend too many resources on the internet than is optimal. Furthermore, Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc. and most of the technology that other countries use to access the internet can generally be traced to the US. This indicates that there are more dimensions to this issue than can be summarized by one statistic.

Yes, broadband is important, and we should aim for 100% penetration eventually. However, we should not base our perceptions based on this ranking alone.

Where you just trying to see how many times you could fit the word "Penetration" into a paragraph?

Um maybe if they offered broadband everywhere... Thank Comcast and Verizon out here... I'm stuck using a damn Aircard for internet, yet i'm 25 minutes away from Baltimore? Makes no sense

@ggvrsn: touche. it is easier to dodge the 9mm bullet from some gangsta's gun than it is the buck shot from a redneck's 12 gauge.

i'm not so sure i want homeboy with the sign on the intertubes. he'll probably end up with a facebook account and then stumbling over to Giz with his stupid comments about being 'frist' or asking if it will 'bendl.'

but then again, with that kind of haircut maybe he will bring a bit of entertainment with him. yeah on second thought, i wanna be his comment sponsor.

The UAE is not a very well known country? OMG what do they teach in American schools these days? JEEZ...

Dubai (located, in the UAE) is like one of the most advanced cities on the planet. It also serves as a major business hub for the Middle East/Europe/Africa/Asia.

And that hick in the pic misspelled "MORON".... Friggin' Morons!

I once went to a cable tv industry convention. Spice Network's banner slogan was "100% more penetration!" since at the time they were on more networks than Playboy.
