2.0 Gallons Per Flush
$5.00 per 1000 gallons
$150 for one unit
one full flush costs $0.01
one half flush costs $0.005
so a half flush instead of a full flush saves you $0.005
you would need to flush 30,000 times to save $150
assume a family makes 10 pees in that toilet a day, it will take 3,000 days or 8.2 years.

There's another thing you need to throw into that calculation. If you have several people living in the same house, or even visiting at the same time, you could end up with people waiting for other people to get done in the bathroom. It's not the worst thing you can have to deal with in that room by a long shot, but it's not all that fun to be stuck waiting for the toilet to refill from the last flush before you can send the evidence of your visit on its way. Especially if the ad break is just about over.

What gets me, is the amount of waste we have...Our European offices have dishwashers and use flatware/silver ware as apposed to disposable cups and plates, another stupid waste of money in this country!

Over here we have people who will just let the pile of dishes build up in the sink until you have to take them out back and have them sandblasted. So disposable stuff sorta is cheaper in the long run, and less likely to result in someone completely flipping out at work.

So, yes, in this society, anything related to improved toilet usage can be considered a huge accomplishment and just cause for celebratory pats on the back.

* mutters to self something about memory lane *
Now where did I put that old Super8 projector...?

Have you ever tried the 1.5 flush? Because now, apparently, you can. Without having to move to Japan or some other country where these are already a regular thing.

Just stating the obvious. I like the idea of a half flush for sure though.

Yeah, not only does it end up smelling like a room full of piss after a while, but then you also have to be worried about splashdown, and you have to run and flush every toilet in the house whenever someone stops by for a visit...
I live in Michigan, and we're not exactly hurting for water. Matter of fact, if any of you would like some snow, I'd be more than happy to ship some to you.

Oh, I never said it would be free, just that I'd be happy to send it to you. I plan to charge up the wazoo for this service, since I do have the cover the costs of shipping it as refridgerated product and all that. I'd just like to get rid of some of the "global warming" that's covering my lawn.
